I'm just wondering if anyone could give me some advice.

I bought some side skirts for my GZ20 soarer but in places they are a little cracked or chipped. I would like to repair them or totally repaint them, I have friend who resprayed his Nissan 240k from metal up but has never played with the ABS like material these skirts are made from.

Has anyone delt with something like this? He mentioned we may have to add some flexour or sometime like that to increase the flexablity of the pain.
BTW the colour is Toyota super white.

I'll try and get some picks up to show the areas that need to be preaired.

Yes, you will need a flexible paint (or flexibility additive), and you will need to plastic prime anything that goes back to plastic before you fill prime. After you have primed it, other than adding the flexibility stuff, its the same as anything else to paint.

arrived at 9:30 said here is the colour code ...
"oh sorry can't mix that today Dupont s colour matching site isn't open on the wkends.. wtf
..now I have to wait till next weekend gggrrrrrrrrr :|

well i got the paint this arvo
he fixed it. its NEARLY what i wanted. ive given up. close enough. the one i wanted was brighter and it stood out. what i got is a tiny bit darker, but looks like its got too much white cos its sorta dull
cant wait to finish this off. then pics.

plastic prime = use plastic primer (A special type of primer that sticks to plastic)

If you were doing bare metal you would etch prime... same situation, it gives a base for the fill primer to stick to.

Dont forget that paint looks different in the tin Andy... they dry a different shade to what they are when wet. Also it could need more mixing. Best thing to do would have been to get it home, test it on a scrap panel (or fuel flap if you have one), let it dry, then check, in both shade and bright light, against the sample. Your gonna look like a dick if the colour matching bloke turns up and tells you that

Just a tip.. on getting right color match... ( my paint shop days)
As paint will dry a different shade to what they are when wet..
Use an old "P" plate (magnetic type) spray "P" plate let it dry then throw it at car (random like) ..
If it disappear's, then paint match is good ..
If it still stand's out .. get paint retinted...

Another question about the windows, how did you remove the chrome surround?? And how hard is it to do without bending it??

My trims were I spose a bit easier. the fact that the rubbers were perished meant that the trim wasn't seated properly. Also the person before me had... wait for it..... SCREWED all 4 corners down becuase they where lifting!!!!! the tenacity!!!
I'm pretty sure you lift gently and slide? Please correctly if I'm wrong

Windscreen trims?? You need to lever them at the clips. Use a rag and a broad bladed prybar (made for removing trim) that has an angled head. Get in under the outside part of the trim, and rock the prybar gently back. The rag is there to protect both the paint and the trim, so use a soft cotton one, and put it over the entire prybar head.

GA61xx... I like your P plate matching method... nice.
