With 2 pac primer i would be putting 4 coats on with about 10-15 mins between coats. try using a hvlp with 1.7-2 tip so it puts plenty on in each coat.

with the cleaning use just acrylic thinners shake alot, spray through for about 5 sec's
and hold finger with a rag over the nozzle and spray again. then just pull apart and clean with a brush.
    that works a treat.

    hi neverland
should be ok to give it a light scuff with 240 #then undercoat it
i always use a highfill primer/sealer it does the two jobs at once and it has the added advantage that it can be thinned down for rub throughs [that is when you have rubbed it back usualy in edges or highspots]

now to paint the roof, what did you guys use to get enough down angle? yes some of us are vertically challenged lol. A chair or ladder? and did you get a "partner" to hold your hose( excuse the pun)
actually starting from the top I soulddn't have to worry about the hose too much...(Brain Fart moment )

i use a plank on a couple of besser bricks
just put your air hose over your shoulder
and an old circular fan at the opposite end of the door opening , that way it blows away a lot of overspray
start from the centre of the roof , then work youway towards the edge some times i give the raised edges i quick coat first then followed by good coverage this helps build up the edges as they are the first bit to rub through when blocking back just after you load up the gun give it a quick squirt against something else apart from the car ,this is so you can adjust the gun before you start spraying
    dont forget the piccys
    good luck
