    Default 4agze extractors on a 4ag head?

im currently in the process of building an AE82 corolla sedan and have recently aquired a 4agze engine minus a supercharger and i am rebuilding the block with the hope of putting a 4ag carby head on it. first question is weather or not this is possible? second question is if it will work, will the extractors off the gze head fit the ge head? any help is appreciated. as the sooner i get this car back on the road the sooner i can start the
    4age 20v conversion on my AE86 levin.

There is no difference (from what I can remember) between a GE and GZE head, so extractors will bolt right up. There's no such thing as a carby 4AG head though (unless it's a modified one), they were all EFI from factory.

This man speaks the truth.. no difference at all.

only thing i can think of that may be different is the location of the o2 sensor? maybe?? never owned a bog stock 4age, thought i'd just mention it.

    Hi Luke,

I wondered when I would see you post on here!

Found this link while trawling around, might be of use:

    http://www.toymods.org.au/forums/arc...p/t-26718.html

Also this link is usefull to find out the potential/benefits of different engines:

    http://www.sssautomotive.com.au/Engines/toyota.htm

The biggest problem I can see mate is the fact that the Z motor has lower compression, to componsate for the boost of the super charger. Without the charger you wont be going anywhere fast, but the intenrals are stronger in the Z motor.

I reckon you should just get a SC14 Supercharger, and set it up in a suck through carbied set up, or blow through if you can be bothered pressuring your carby. If you want to go this way let me know, I have been doing heaps of research for the turbo 'Rona project.

    Kind Regards,

    Ryan

Hmm. This is puzzling and of slight concern. I was talking to the owner of a local workshop that specialise in cylinder heads and he said the 4ag (not 4age) did not come with holes for fuel injectors and that it was a carb head similar to a 4af but not the same. So i am unsure what the go is there? I asked for a smallport.

And i am aware of the underlying issue of low comp pistons hence the rebuild so there should be no drama.

Just a thought, would the extractors in question fit a 4afe/4af head?

He's probably thinking of the 4AC head. Every 4AG 16v head has holes for the injectors.
Or maybe the 4AG 20v head, which has the injectors in the manifold.

Only difference between a smallport and a gze bottom end is the pistons, which are just lower comp with a coating on them. Crank and rods are identical.

lol oh fck i just read its an ae86 and that its a 20v head?. all 4agze's were FWD, the extractors will not work on a RWD car.

4agze extractors are 16V, so wont bolt up, regardless neither will work on a rwd conversion.

    RE: 4af:

4ag(z)e extractors do not fit on 4afe's 4afc's or 4ac heads.

The best 'stock' extractors you can get are the blacktop extractors, but you'll need the secondary pipe too.
They will fit a 16v head with the addition of two holes in the flange.

What about the oil squirters & 7 ribs in the cast iron block of the GZE?

    Do GE's have those?

Yes. GZEs have always had the same bottom end and head as their equivalent year GE, just the pistons are different.

Only true of the early bigport 4AGEs. The later bigports (and the bigport 4AGZEs I believe) are 7-rib and same size crank/pin as the smallport.
