Your right, I'm just trying to get the most of what I got.

So you recon not worth it unless I get my hands on a AFC/SAFC ?

If it was me, I would fit a fuel computer of sorts, boost controller and put it on a dyno and tune for 15 or so PSI. This will be a safe figure and you could also fit a better intercooler at the same time for an even larger gain.

Cheers, thats the way I'll go.

You recon a JZA70 intercooler should fit fine behind the stock bar without cutting?

    aye fellas

A while ago i fitted a rather cheap and nasty boost controller, its on the car for the time being until i can rake up some more cash for a decent ebc something like what Nathan's got sounds good to me but there about $600-$700 so havnt got onto it yet, but will do soon.

The controller im using atm is a simple flick the switch to high boost from standard, which consists of a very simple but not very effective electronic solenoid to control the boost.

On the dyno lately with it i have found that im getting good results of around 170kws on the wheels at just under 14psi, but for some reason its dropping off to only 9psi when im at that peak power figure, ive put the sheet up below?

I know that the controller isnt decent but im thinking that there must be something else going on here to make it drop boost by nearly 5psi. It was also quite hot on the day with 26 degrees celcius in the dyno cell so its certainly making good power its another one of these engines i think that goes hard with stock twins.

Has anybody here had major boost drop with there controllers and or taps and do you think that maybe its leaking some where else like the bov? i cant think of anything else for this its a little odd

Most 1ggte with stock setup drop boost up top, thats one of the major issues. Some say its the AFM other the restriction in the inteake piping, i too would like to know the definet answer. I did manage to eliminate this with a EBC as it only drops 1-2psi on 1 bar at peak revs...

    aye man,

Hows that blitz bags powered girl of yours going, got your manual in there now?

You can see on the dyno sheet there below that it does drop quite a bit, but everything seems to be fine and its pulling sweet though.

Imagine what it could do with the boost at 13-14psi sustained?

Awesome result for that boost level Man ! Thats wicked.

If your DYno opperator is willing you can always disconnect the vacuum lines to the wastegate actuators, block the vacuum leak with rubber block offs and see what the turbos are actually capable of holding.

I know my stock twins will hold the 14psi mark in a crude fashion.

checked over a few things now on it and have come to a conclusion, that it will most likely be the gen2 twins actuators creeping a little bit leaking some boost up revs, as there not as efficient as the gen3 ones. As well as the inconsistant controller setup. The gearing is far to long for them as well with 220kms in 4th gear putting some strain on them too.

Next plan of attack is to fit a shorter geared diff like 4.5 or 4.6 ratio better boost controller and go from there.

GTTwin, why are you running the gen2's? I though GA70's came with Gen3's?

Yes the later GA70 does come with gen3, but mine is a 1986 Gen2 model all modified like the newer ones except not widebody, still has the Gen2 auto factory ecu in it too. I got the turbos for $350 so i went with them even though they are gen2 because of the good price.

    cheers

Like mentioned earlier, does anybody know if the factory AFM is a restriction with the stock turbos, or blitz bags at high boost levels?

The opening in the AFM is pretty small.

No, the factory turbos will run out of puff before the AFM becomes a restriction.
