    As hypo said the 2J is the go if you want lots of grunt, but they are a fair bit dearer to buy than a 1J & are taller by some 30mm or so due to the longer stroke of the 2J & have a complex twin turbo vacuum plumbing too, which the 1J luckily doesn't have, so it depends on what you want to do with your car & what your Goals are but to me in most cases the 1j works very well, not uncommon to get 300 kw plus from a unopened motor with just ad ons & still reliable as .. I had a 1J some years ago with twin gt28 turbos & cams & ECU & it had 321 RWKW at 19 psi Boost with the comp pressures a bit down too, was a bit to cammy for my liking, but good power though ..

    1J motors are so cheap to buy & yet still are a top motor & develop good power even standard & can feel very strong with maybe a bit more boost & on the standard turbo's too & chalk & cheese down low compared to a 1G its amazing what an extra 500cc does ..
