    Default MX83 electronic speedo

Cluster circuit.JPGC9 B GREY.JPGWhite connector.JPGSpeedo circuit.jpgI have searched and read a few posts on speedo's first but not sure still.

My MX83 electronic speedo doesn't kick in initially so I contacted a forum member who could have done the capacitors but he has moved and can't do it.

I have found a complete cluster for sale but the seller will not let me try it out in my car or give a refund if faulty, he will let me bench test it though?

I have a MX83 speedo sender/sensor, a compatible grey connector plug, I have a multimeter, car battery and wires.

Does anyone know how I can set it all up to test out of the car before I buy it please? Which pins on the grey cluster connector to hook up?

The wiring diagrams I have are conflicting with the connector colours/numbers and pinouts and don't help much.
    Update:
I have removed my cluster to show the wires and connector. After using the MM on the yellow wire from the disconnected white plug (dash side) It looks like the speedo input wire at the grey connector is yellow with a blue trace not brown or yellow as in the diagrams? Doing my head in!

I have now removed my speedo unit and the circuit looks pretty crusty at the top of the board as shown. This speedo issue might put all the Cressida's off the road :-(

Cheers and thank you for any help.

    Very simple
Connect the battery to the speedo and sensor and connect the other sensor wire to the speedo sensor connection. Then turn the sensor drive shaft by hand and it should read on the speedo
Here are a couple of pictures. It is a Hilux speedo but should work the same as Cressida

So I bought the used instrument cluster after madmont's help on testing and after replacing 2 small globes all is good till next time :-)

The lens on mine was cloudy from some sort of spray but the bought one is perfect. It has 1,300 Klm's more than mine so that's close enough.

I will find someone who can hopefully refurbish my old speedo ready for next time.
    Thanks once again to madmont.
