I use a car with a low roof height and long legs

Something stable which is as long as the high area would be a good start.

A bit of a hint that I got told against my reasoning... mask up the window holes when painting, as the paint particles from overspray will cavitate around inside the car and become dust which will settle on the wet paint.

just another quick tip before you paint
if you have a leaf blower , blow away dust and stuff from around the carport that is if thats the area that you are painting in
then wet the floor , this keeps any dust down
and finaly EARTH your car to a water tap , or car port metal staunchion , this will help in keeping the static electricity down , and as we all know from our science class , static attracts dust

thats the lesson today kids lol

    Hey Jarrod,
For both windscreens I used a sharp knife to cut away the outside of the seal( it was a bitch because it was VERY old and hard, non flexible.)I slide the knife in parallel using the screen a 'guide, making sure i kept it as flat as I could against it and 'shimmied' it along. Kinda like filleting a fish. If you have an angle, its very possible to to crack/shatter the glass if the knife catches on the edge.

Sometimes it got a bit stuck due to the black gooy stuff, so I used little squirts of WD40 to lube it up to make it slide. Also be very careful that knife doesn't slip, if pulling towards you, becuase the force of pushing the knife into the seal and pulling at the same time, if it had slipped the force would cause the blade to cut/slash/gash you...
After you hacve cut all the surrounding flap off. carefully using equal amounts of pressure to push up the screen. If possible have someone else there to guide you and tell you if the screen looks like its flexing too much. Once you're sure the screen is loose using gloves of course tilt the screen up and with, if possible a mate to lift it clear from the car.
The hard part over now remove all the metal clip by sliding them up from the notches and pull /rip the remainding rubber seal off
Good luck, its not as hard as it seems, just tedious ,remebering not to angle the knife
any more qs please dont hesitate to ask

    hi dave
use that time to go over your car again
wash it off , and look along the panels
when wet it gives a good guide to how the glossy top coat will look
if you have some spot putty ,double check for any chips or sanding marks etc

i baught some paint on sat. asked the guy to mix it up from a sampler floder. it was a bright greenish colour.
so he mixed it up and i payed. got to the car and thought i should check it just to make sure.
so i cracked open the tin and the fucker got it wrong. it was a totally different shade of green. no where near what i asked for.
so he said he will fix it monday when the colour matching guy comes in. FFS. i needed it then to start painting. was spewing.

Dont forget that paint looks different in the tin Andy... they dry a different shade to what they are when wet. Also it could need more mixing. Best thing to do would have been to get it home, test it on a scrap panel (or fuel flap if you have one), let it dry, then check, in both shade and bright light, against the sample. Your gonna look like a dick if the colour matching bloke turns up and tells you that
