There should be a pipe from the front of the thermostat housing going to the inlet of the water pump, then there is another pipe from the heater core to the inlet of the water pump, and a final pipe from the back of the head on the passenger side to the heater tap. Obviously the top and bottom radiator hoses are in their respective spots.

    Hi,

btw take a photo of your engine number, that'll probably help decide if at least the block is a factory 18rg or 18rc.

I am still waiting on valve shim pads. My local guy who said "Yeah,Yeah, no worries, easy, have them for you monday" found that he could not get them. I was sus on this when he said that.
Now, I just rang Chris @ Precision Shims Australia, Ph 03 97230199, he is posting to me the sizes that I need. $9.90 each + post, another reason to grind a few thou of the valve stem after a valve regrind, save nearly $90.00 & eight useless shims hanging about.
We should pool all our old shims on a shim swap register, what sayest thou.

Hi guys. I got my shim pads but now my problem is sourcing valve springs. I want standard ones not an uprated high tension jobby, just standard doubles. Does anyone know someone who stocks this sorta shit .

Why don't you want uprated springs??

I have used both performance springs and crow springs. They are both good items.

What flogged out?? The seats, heads, collets or retainers?? Or did the stems stretch too much??

What I saw in the head that I am using was single springs and tough ones that appear to be the crow springs. The inlet valves were absolutely hammered into the seats so that they had a step in the face & the outer edge was as thin as a knife. The clearance of bucket to cam was closed. When I took it to my local head guy he said the cause was the springs + heat & caning. "Get the correct springs for this thing if you want it to last Owen", was his advice. I do want it to last & I wont be caning the ring out of it constantly, just high speed. Apparently these things do not need a lot of spring preasure because they only need to close the valve & lift the bucket, not push a load of valve train components. Heavy springs it seems only accelerate wear on valves, buckets & cams. If anyone can refute this I want to hear about it.
Sheeit I sound more like River every day. Don't rev it boy, look I said stay under 6.
