    ra_28, thanks for the offer.
I'm looking at going the easiest to set up and tune for now.
At least to see if my issues can be sorted, by going stand alone.

Dont be mislead, ms3 is not an old girl. It has hardware capabilities beyond the current offerings costing many thousands, and the software (both on the ECU and the PC) is a constantly evolving project.

But while this is its strength to some, it is also its weakness to others. Features evolve and improve regularly, so if youre a set and forget kinda guy, it wont necessarily suit. And evrything is made to be tweakable to the nth degree, great if you understand eberything and want to tweak to perfection, but if u just want to turn a feature on and have it just work 'ok', then megasquirt wouldn't be your choice.

The old girl reference, was for the Car (RA28 & geu engine as an old girl) not the ECU.
I undersatnd to complexity of this ECU. Your right, in referring to the capabilities it has.
I would and probably will want, to get further in depth with it, adding indiv coil packs, crank sensor etc....for full tuning capabilities.
I've been bitten, so to speak.

MS3 with the MS3X expansion board is certainly something to be beheld! I am thinking of ditching my plans to run a separate body computer and just using the spare I/O of the MS to run all the extras.

OK, who has or is, in the process of getting a 18rgeu going.
i want someone to try my wiring harness and ecu (std) and see if it runs the engine.
i'm trying to determine if my harness is at fault, ECU or my car itself.
i've double checked the harness and it seems fine. So ECU or car is the problem.
So. if yr in Sydney prefferably and you wanna try it and yr not shifty to take off with it.
    let me know.

    Jab.

yeh. I'll do what u say on the micro tech and the checking.
Thinking about it now. i did change the (+) battery post to a Jaycar gold terminal. i hope thats not the issue.
its sits snug on the clean terminal. I'll check that again.

The basis for the request is to confirm mine old ecu works, to sell my old ecu and harness later on maybe.
i will connect the microtech to 12v power to confirm the handset turns on.

the unit itself (microtech) powers up from the battery, as the red light comes on.
i just couldn't get the handset to light up to check the TPS settings.
i didnt attempt to start, due to battery.

i still haven't got a new battery. The alternater is charging fine. though i have a EA 85amp alternator waiting to go in.

Spent the weekend working on the car. Added the microtech, but couldn't get the injectors to fire. Checked the harness.
Got too hard, as I dont know what else to check.
So I went back to my std harness an ECU. Got it going in a test scene, but started to surge instead of cutting out.
Also got it going great but idled way high.
At this point, i'd changed coils, dizzy, checked fuel, TPS, earths, the lot.
i'm done with it for this month, maybe i'll find time and inspiration next month. In time for the Toyofest.
Unless something jumps up and tells its faulty, I've checked everything.
thanks for your help guys. signing out.....

    Jabb.
The red light comes on, on the unit, i didn't check if it flickered when cranking.
i got spark, no problems. Just the injectors weren't firing.
yep, had connected wire to (-) coil for signal.
All other connections straight forward. Fuel pumps came on.
i admit i gave up early on it.
i'll give it another whirl this weekend..lol

Been googling heaps to find solution to cutting out and surging.
Has been suggested to check coolent flow through the throttle body, also check for carbon on the IAC..lol if i have one.
i think its the blue air valve low on the intake side.
they say it can cause some of my symptoms....well see.
