My engine doesn't really need the extravagance of a MLS headgasket at US$250.... but then again if that is the only option, so be it!

got burned doing that. keep the purchase under 1k and you won't pay duty or gst. extra freight cost becomes cheap

18rc HG will fit the 18rg. There is just one bolt hole that is different on the timing cover. Done it before with no probs at all

Current issue is that the standard HGs don't work when you put 92mm pistons in as the fire rings aren't big enough. You are correct though that the 18R-C head gasket can be used in a pinch, however it will provide a greater risk of leaking from the top of the timing cover.

the actual location was different. If you have an rc and rg timing cover check them out. I think it is the very front bolt moves about an inch round to the drivers side. All i did was cut it off the rc gasket and literally put the cut part between the timing cover and the head so that it still had the same "gap" and would seal up properly. There should be no reason why you couldn't do this with a copper gasket for the sake of saving a bit of cash (and more the availability)

mine never leaked. I think though what he is getting at is they have the 92mm copper gasket listed for a rc but not for an rg.

Ben is correct.. there is a listing for an 18r with 92mm, but it doesnt mention being an 18rg one.

They haven't answered my email so I am going to call them in the next day or so and see what they can tell me. Given its a V8 oriented organisation I imagine two tenths of fark all!

But they haven't specified it as being 18R-C, and as we didn't get the non California spec 18R in great numbers, one can deduce that there is a reasonable chance it is actually an 18R-G head gasket, but they didn't know that there was a difference between the RC and RG, so they just listed for 18R.

Ask them for a photo of one, and compare it to your timing cover.
