how does a 304/ 288 duration compare with the 240's(289 duration) or the
    wilder 250's(295 dur).
the 304 seems over the top. Meaning you have them in a wild rg, is that right.
What the benifit of 304 int and a low 288 exh? sorry guys trying to figure this stuff out.

I am not sure how the 304/288 setup compares with your cams, when I bought the cams I was told they were used for rally car setup, I was after the 304/304 but was unable to obtain the second 304 cam and bought a 288 instead. The engine is a tg (1600) with a bascially stock bottom end except the steel flywheel. The jets on the carbs are as follows 190 main, 210 air jet,57.5 idle, 50 pump nozzle and accelerator pump on the #3 position (longer duration of fuel) add headers and a 2.5 inch exhaust and away you go esp at about 3300RPM. I think it's difficult to compare Carby set up with EFI.
When you talk about jetting and stuff, When an EFI, i suppose you talk injector, duty cycle and fuel pressure.
Off the shelf they sell the same duration cams, where now i have to deal with longer duration for intake...
So confused i may put this on hold and stick with the *****231 rg's

I agree with that! There are times when the simplicity of carbs has its appeal. Be Safe

    Howdy all

What do people do for a headgasket when you go with a large oversize piston?

Mine are 92mm pistons, and the headgasket that came in my gasket kit really won't work with that....

    Suggestions are welcome thanks

Kameari do a 92mm bore multilayer steel (MLS) head gasket. Purchasing from the states seems to be the way to go, but they are US$250 plus freight (more for some thicknesses), so a bit of a hit on the hip pocket. Other thing about them is they have different thicknesses available, so you can measure and decide what you want to suit your engine's setup.

Cometic used to do a gasket to suit 92mm bore, I don't know is they still do, we scored an old stock one.

ACL Eagle Farm (custom gasket) apparently already have a pattern and have previously made the gaskets to suit 92mm bore.

I will agree ACL do make the 92mm bore gaskets i've had a couple done before. But mine was done by ACL in Eagle Farm Brisbane.

Bugger, I always get that wrong, Eagle Farm. That's the one I was thinking about. (editing the above post now)

ra_28 do you have a part number for that gasket and did it have perfectly round bores?

The first lot were shit because i used a copper gasket as the sample, but then i took an original 18rg down and we made up some for 92mm and 92.5mm and they were perfect.

I do have the part number still but i'm in Dubai for another 5 months it's still attached to my last order.

If you ring and tell them you want a Toyota 18rg in 92mm bore they have it on file.

Shame you are in Dubai Alex... the phone monkey at ACL Eagle Farm would only admit to having a standard one on their books.

Gave me the number of a place called Specialised Gaskets, but they want upwards of $400 for one!!

Sorry for the triple posts... can any one tell me if an 18R head gasket would be ok on the 18RG?

As Steve M mentioned, Cometic have a 92mm one listed for the 18R
