Jet come loose maybe something similar used to happen to me after motorkhana. Mine was always number four jet.

Hmm i tried to check that but i couldnt find a leak :S
i had a vacuum leak from the two rubber lugs underneath the balance tube. The leak only affected the idle not the high revs as the problem is now

I had a #4 jet come loose once too. I have heard it is a common occurrence with the Mikunis.

Also check your venturies havent come loose. Ive never had a problem with mine, but Gerrard has had them come loose (although his was having problems all the way through the revs when his were loose). Ive heard of many others having problems with them after theyve come loose so its always good to check theyre still tight whenever youre working on the car.

From memory when mine went loose, it was acting as you describe, all good until you hit about 4000rpm.

i had a problem with my main jet, to the point where it was sitting in the fuel bowl. i would check there first, also check the resistance of the leads, i once had a brake in number 3 that only missfired after 5000rpm.
cheers
Turbo flutter. : Its like a burp and a hiccup at the same time.
ok checked the venturi's with my finger they seem pretty solid ill have to pull the carbs off tonight to get a closer look at the jets.
thanks Sam ill check the leads tonight while im at it.
+Rep for those with the ideas thanks heaps guys
No need to pull the carbs off Alex.
If they are OEM Solexes on the 18R-G they will be Type T and you need to undo the four top screws, two long and two short to remove the Starter/Jet cover.
A very common problem is the Jet Blocks unscrew if not seated properly last time somone did them up.
Remove the four jet blocks, remove the Main Air Jets from the top. Note down your jet sizes, top and bottom.
Re-install the jet block with a large flat blade and seat it firmly, then add the Main Air Jet.
Check and record the Pilot Jet sizes as well.
Be extra careful when relocating the Starter cover as the disc lever has to engage correctly into the starter disc, otherwise when the screws are tightened, the lever will jam up.
Now, if the carbs are S4 or S5 then it is much the same process except you only have a Jet cover to remove to see the jets and one screw.

Rodger
You may also want to check your air cleaners,
Once I had one of the socks being sucked into the carby and was blocking off the air flow

Hi,
I doubt it, but doing as Rodger mentions you'll be able to inspect the jets and see if anything is jammed there, or loose.
