If you mean the one in the pic, then mine was blocked too. No idea what its for, but wouldn't mind knowing. I'm pretty sure it goes into the oil gallery so is perfect for turbo oil supply

He extra hole might be to allow room for a power steering pump or something. Was the A/C compressor there on the 18RC?

The extra hole is likely for something like the GT, where there was an oil gauge, and the ESP computer to feed information to.

Personally I will be using that hole (as 7M-GTE pointed out) for my turbo oil supply.

    Hi,

The oil temp gauge for the 18R-G came off the sump, not from that little pipe thing. Not sure what the ESP used, but I doubt it would check oil temp. It may check oil pressure, but it would use the standard fitting, as I can't see why the ESP would require a different pipe/attachement.

I am unaware of the GT model having a different engine setup. Sure there may be some different sensors for the ESP equiped models, but the block remains the same.

Also, I don't think mine has that blocked off pipe, but it is an early build engine. I say "don't think" 'cos I couldn't get my fat hand down there to feel properly, and you can't see it from underneath as the stone tray is in the way. When I get a chance I'll have a more thorough look... or maybe just check the EPC.

I've seen a small sender unit in there on an import engine....dunno what it was for though? I have used that port on all the turbo 18RGs i have been involved with.

River, I was talking pressure, not temp. GT gauge clusters that I have seen have an oil pressure gauge where the stock cluster has a dummy light. Similarly the ESP may have an oil pressure switch to give a second warning of unusual pressure readings. A large sender is for a pressure gauge, and a small sender is actually a switch.

I don't think I have seen an 18R without the second hole...

The factory location for the oil pressure sender (on my '35) was actually part of the oil filter bracket, the 18rgeu has a manifold brace which would foul on that sender so it uses the location in the pic above. My other 18rg also has that location blocked off by a bolt (and a plug in the port above it).

My esp doesnt have a pressure warning, only low oil level which has a sensor in the side of the sump.

It isn't actually a bolt blocking it, it is a plug, since the thread is NPT, which means it is tapered.

Interesting that the ESP does not have a pressure warning... perhaps this was to feed oil to something in one of the race engines?? I will have a look and see if my 16R block has both ports.

Where'd you get that nice and new and sparkles spark plug lead clip from man?

Specifically the one which bolts to the cam cover.

There is a guy on the 1stgen forums that makes the plug lead clips for RGs. I believe he can make them in a few different colours also. Think he's located in Thailand or something.

That would be user Bullitt from Malaysia who is an active member on this forum

Perhaps we should ask him if he is still making them.
