Loving my 18r-g, it's a wee bit thirsty but coming from a 3 cyl swift anything would appear to be I guess, full tank lasts me about a week.

    Plans:

    Exhaust so it sounds angry.
    Tune (solex'es)

    nothing else.

tempting to go efi but I don't wanna spend all that money when I'm just going to end up buying a converted celica down the track.. (1g hopefully) so a tune and a nice note will do just fine for this car.

They have to accrew enough for nose reconstructions as well as feeding his mime family. The dont talk much so they never need much water for their dry mouths.

I could spare one for ya Justen, but surely someone local has one to save the pain of posting.
Thanks Timbo, love your work . Atleast I know what to do now in the event of "That special sound". Surely being my first turbo engine there is room for error. Lesson learnt

When I feel brave enough I'll post a video of the sound of my 18RG dying at willowbank with me wondering what that sound was when it went bang.

in the background audio you can hear my mate going, "uh oh, that doesn't sound good".

So you are not alone in that sense

You saw it when you were down getting some bits for your brothers car.

Yeah definitely a sound I won't forget or will allow to happen again.

Damn straight it is! But that's the price you pay to own a man's engine.

Rodger is down in the ACT and knows his carbs. Give him a buzz and see if he can tune your Solex. It won't make the engine much less thirsty, but she'll feel like a new engine - especially if the carbs haven't been tuned for many years.

I got 10L/100kms in my Celica last tank

Which strangely enough, is the same as the carbies lol

hey im buying an 18rg that probly needs a rebuild i have a celica with the stock 18rc at the moment,
i was hoping to use my bottem end (of the 18rc) and get the head of the 18rg rebuilt becouse the 18rc is still quite fresh.
    will they bolt together.

Nope totally different the only similarities are the block and the crank even then the dip stick is on the other side. 18rc pistons are flat top where 18rg have a postive dome. All the front timing chain covers are different. Your better off rebuilding the 18rg.

As your new to the site, this question as been asked plenty of times just perform a search for 18rg head on 18rc block. http://www.toymods.net/forums/showth...ead+18rc+block

    Hi,

you'll need to find the search button......... There are a few threads around here plentiful on whats needed to combine the two. Pretty sure it's covered fairly well in this thread.

Anyway, you'll need the rg pistons, rg timing cover, rg pump drive shaft and the oil pump. So basically the 18rc engine you would keep the rods, crank and block. Better off just rebuilding the entire 18rg. Do it right the first time.
