2 years build, do you mind me asking what figures they are talking about to build it, I would think it could be close to 100,000 & I'm sure Wet Coast Customs would be way over 100,000 ..
woow that is awesome , I basically will do that to my celica but on a skyline we have already the measurements lexsmaz and we need to shorten the wheel base , I will also make my wings and quarters wider like the black v8 ra28 doing a burnout on youtube , but thanks bermy that project looks cool, and I like to do things a little different iv been told it will take around 2 years to complete but it will be a master piece, when its done you guys will see

West coast Customs? as in America? Are you not in England?
For what this is going to cost you.. just go and buy a new 911 Turbo.
100 grand times 3 or 4 for west coast to do it
ive worked on hotrods that cost 200 grand in Australia
and the fab worked was not as much as what u plan
and some old school cars done up by these big shops in usa can cost over 500 000
anyway good luck
yh iv got a guy in England who has carried out similar conversions so it wont be a problem by time I finish with my car its goin to cost me round bout 150,000 pounds but it will be like factory standard all the welding the body work the engine everything will be at perfect standard. I am know just speaking to friends and im sourcing a r33 gtr once that's sorted I will than order my 2jz supra engine from titan motorsports in America and have a 1 off custom build so should be fun. wa5 this is my dream car I always wanted the old celica so when you want a dream car you pay for how you want it to be. I was going to keep it original but when I put the bodykit on and widen the wings and quarter the car will not move or sound the way it looks so that's why I want to do something different so it moves like a racing bull and looks like a bull ready to pounce.
hi guys thanks for all your advice,i just spoke to a guy called iffi from Peterborough and he is a celica expert and he said the celica will drive shiit with this conversion and taking on board of your comments iv decided I will not carry out this conversion I will restore the car and put my bodykit on and then put a 20v silver top engine or a v8 lexus engine with throttle bodies, I really wanted to convert my car to 4 wheeldrive but after a 1 hour conversation I have decided to to choose the v8 or the 20v silver top . its a real shame because I really wanted to do this conversion but ow well see what happens. thanks for all your help and information
Amazing what can happen in 7 hours, you can end up with 2 totally different posting scenario's..
That Celica guy has some influence !! not sure what happened to the other guy in England that has done similar conversions, sounds like the celica expert knows more ..
Umar, on your new tack, I would personally choose the 1UZ over the 20v 4AG, as the 1.6L will lack the torque required to move the much heavier TA23 around (that motor works great in a 800kg or less car, but put it in something with 25% more mass and then some, and you just really start wishing for more). Another option may be the 3S-GE Beams from a Lexus RS200 Altezza, and give it some boost (turbo, supercharger, or hey, why not both!!). Those options would give plenty of torque, plenty of speed, and the weight balance will stay fairly reasonable. Good luck, and I'm glad the R33 idea has been squashed.
Cheers, Owen

Umar I'm glad you've come to a conclusion you can progress with.
I hope your dream car turns out for you. I'd love to see your progress.
+1 for the 1UZ.
UMar66, I'm curious what you actually like about the Celica.
Don't you want to enjoy it in its pure form? Have you enjoyed driving it much? or any other Celicas?
I mean, sure, dreaming and modifying can be really fun, but wouldn't you need to "experience" the car a bit more.
Having seen a lot of restored and modified classic Celicas (I've never owned one), I can relate to them being beautiful, and impressive when done right, but don't you think making such extreme changes makes it no-longer actually a "Celica"

yhh I think I will put the v8 in, Ifi also said that evens jaffas red ta22 still would not run or drive right , he said It would be good in a straight line but rubbish round bends, but yh I think I am going with the 1uz with throttle bodies and I probably will get the engine all tuned up. thanks guys. o man ra23 so you reckon I should not put the 20v silver top??
Umar, the 20V Silvertop, while being a fantastic engine, just lacks the torque you would want. You would be driving with it revving its arse off all the time, which gets quite tiresome. Whilst it is great to be able to rev (which both the 1UZ and 3S will achieve nicely), it is also nice to be able to take off without the smell of burnt clutch, and roll along the highway with the motor lazing away, and overtake people without dropping gears. Even the older 2T-G has more torque than the 20V, and at lower RPM, and its a bit small for the TA23 (even through it was made for the job).

thanks mate, yh I will be using the 1uz v8 with the throttle bodies and have some custom mufflers and few other mods to make the engine sound more vicious. is there a thread on here where some 1 has put the 1uz v8 in a ra23/ta23??, guys does the flat lights look nice on the ra23 ta23?
yes the 1UZ into RA23/28 has been done a few times, have a look in the threads.
The flatlights wont simply go on the back of your 23, its different.
Also in massive change of events, good to see your going for a conversion thats gonna work for you.
This thread honestly confuses me... We have gone from all systems go West Coast Customs, enginners on board and nearly 300K AUD build price to now fitting a 1UZ with custom mufflers.
I will continue to watch this space.
