I wonder if a similar thing is possible using the top half of an original 1973 carrera RS & the bottom half of a nissan maxima, turned backwards. You see this way the engine is still in the right place.

Just need a way longer final drive for reverse, which would be the only forward moving gear, be fine for hillclimbs and shit - plus you'd have the benefit of having 5 reverse gears and a maximum reversing top speed of whatever a maxima could do - which would definitely be awesome.

edit: Might need to source a manual maxima box from japan though, overnight of course.

This thread is awesome for lulz. But being serious for a minute.

Why not just build a traditional 2JZ RWD Celica, and chuck some electric motors on the front wheels and make them kick in for torque necessary situations, like takeoff and pulling the car into a corner, since that's when you want AWD, electric motors on takeoff would be epic too. All other times you can take advantage of RWD and better engine placement, weight distribution and centre of gravity etc.

Surely a much better solution than fucking up a perfectly good shell to create a frankenstein that 100% won't feel like the car you envisioned it being. The more you fuck with things the worse they become, not better.

Generally in my opinion photos are not really required but are nice to show progress etc, but in this case I think I will believe it when I see it ..

if budget is no option then do u understand you will have to throw atleast 50 grand at it to make it all work with gtr running gear
its easy to say there is no limit but to have to fork out 2 grand every few weeks for over a year is hard to do

it is also a type of job that only 0.00000000000000001 of the population of the world can do in their backyard

as long as u understand how big a job it is then go ahead with it
just remember a lot of these types of jobs get started then they lay in the back yard for 10 or 20 years
ive done enough conversions many years ago to know how people think

If Umar has bundles of cash to throw around then no reason he cant conscript the right skilled people to do the job.

Obviously, there is then the question of taste, but that is very individual too.

Personally, there are other ways of spending that much for what I think is a better car. Umar, send me your limitless cash.

thanks for the replys and maj how to these electric motors work?? , thanks for your opinion guys I appreciate your thoughts and help, dumbass I hav got one of the best engineers in the uk who is known for doing such crazy conversions iv done some research and found the right people who have tons of knowledge about such conversions but let see what happen I am still waiting on a rely from west cost customs and 1 or 2 other companies. I respect all your thoughts because many of you have carried out lots of conversions on the celicas and have allot more knowledge about the conversions so I respect your thoughts and opinions, I just want to do something different like Jaffa did on the red ta22, he made his celica all wheel drive his car looks pretty good. I just want to make a awd 2jz in the celica have something different with my custom mods to the body but thanks for your opinions,

What is your guy doing about the longer length & width of the skyline over the Celica, if he is just cutting / stretching the guards to suit the length without lengthening the doors it could proportionally like quite bad ?? need to get someone to set it out & with the new lengths / dimensions on some computer model etc to see how it all looks before you chop it up,

    Just my thoughts though ..

Here's what I think. It sounds like a story we've heard a million times which always end up like all the other talk at the local pub : none of it gets close to happen.

But for those of you who are swaying that welding the top of the celica to the bottom of a GTR is a bad idea and not possible, I suggest that you go and read what we do over here...

Give the guy a break and let him do what he wants. Does he know what he's getting into? Probably not. But he sure doesn't seem to give a f@ck about it either. Yes, the odds are against him... and would be against most of the people on this board too as it's such a huge amount of work. But it's possible, let him give it a go.
