    Default Wheel Fitment

    Hey guys,

Bit of a noob question but i bought some wheels...purely to use the tyres. Wheels are to go on an ae93 sx, standard hubs.
I emailed the guy and asked him the specs on the wheel itself, this is the reply i got.

    "Made in Italy 5 1/2J+ 15H2 1345 mini 4 stud 70mm centres 100mm diagonal"

Would i have any dramas fitting these given the centre hole is so much larger than the standard??

    Cheers,
    Josh

You can buy rings from wheel shops that serve the purpose of making wheels with a larger hub size still hubcentric, they aren't expensive. I got some from tempe when i went there to get tyres..

Plenty of people don't worry about wheels being hubcentric, but for the $10 or whatever they cost, i figure it is worth doing

err, early RWD is 4x110, later is 4x114.3
    FWD is often 4x100

From a reply from another forum, i'm pretty sure that "70mm" refers to the actual distance between the neighbouring stud hole, i.e. the diagonal distance being 100mm, going from old Pythagoras we would end up with the 70mm or there about's figure...

Still to be confirmed....thanks for the response though either way.

sorry but no. forget other forums. this is the forum..

pitch circle diameter is the measurement between the centre of the studs = 100mm

and centrebore is the size of the centre hole = 70mm

The person on the other forum who said the 70mm might be the distance between neighbouring studs was me I brought it up because the original text only said "70mm centres" (not 70mm centrebore) followed by "100mm diagonal" which is how a lot of n00bs try and measure PCD on eBay - the distance from the centre of one stud to the centre of the next stud, which on a 4x100 PCD is almost exactly 70mm. I've seen several attempts to describe 5-stud PCDs as "xxxx mm between each stud" because of the difficulty in accurately measuring the PCD due to the odd number of studs (can't do a diagonal like you can with a 4-stud or 6-stud).

This is the way I've always known about it:

EDIT: Though I could be wrong as well because hole size will affect it, I've not dealt with 5-stud enough it seems.

EDIT 2: It seems I was hasty, reading more about it, Hiro is on the ball, there is a way of measuring two adjacent studs and multiplying the distance by 1.7012.

EDIT 3: Or you can search Toymods: http://www.toymods.org.au/forums/showthread.php?t=46490

There is one thing that tricks some people, when you have a pcd measuring tool like this one..

you go from one hole to the next hole closest and the tool works it out for you as if you where going diagonally

This is where the confusion lies me reckons
