OK, so i got an oldschool momo steering wheel:
and then i got an autotechnica boss kit for my car:
looks something like this
i took the old steering wheel off (that was great fun!!) put new steering wheel on. hooked up the horn, all was sweet. then i chucked the keys in (stupid steering lock) put the wheel to full steering lock both ways, and while i turn the wheel, the stupid horn goes off!!!!
so i look at it and look at it and i decide that the wire i got with the bosskit isnt long enough. this means after 2 turns its pulling the positive connection for the horn down onto the driving column thing (which is the negative connection)
so i got a longer piece of wire (30cm should do it!) wired it all up again. there are no places where the positive connection (be it at the horn itself, anywhere along the wire or where it connect to the original horn connection) can be touching the negative part and hence make the horn sound. im stumped, i dont know what is making the horn turn on all the time :-S its really anoying me!!!
anyone know what i should do? i can post pics up to help explain the problem.

all terminals are covered. ive re-done everything a number of times. covered/uncovered doesnt seem to make a difference. used black electrical tape to cover every single bit but didnt help, still had the same problems.

Could part of the original wire be getting crushed by the boss kit (the dash end of the boss kit) from when you installed it?
This has happened to a mate before and it was creating a very slight, but just enough, earth to set the horn off...
atleast it will warn people your turning
Maybe this could be a new saftey device for the general population.
The cable might be getting pulled and its stripped a bit! you will find it im sure!
Speaking of boss kits. I bought an SAAS boss kit for my ATC wheel and to fit the actual boss kit onto my RA65 I had to remove a white piece of plastic which was sitting on a spring (or the other way around can't remember). But anyway I couldn't see how that piece of plastic did anything so anyway after putting the new wheel on it now doesn't turn off my indicators. The boss kit doesn't go down enough to fit with that bit of plastic
Any advice?
put the wheel on and secure it without that centre bit in (which contains the horn assembly)
turn it and see if the noise goes off,
if not then it is in the pad area,
if so then you have some issue with wiring and boss kit.
also try the same thing but remove the metal plate thingy that fits between the wheel and the bos kit as this is the connection pad for the horn.
or put it all together as it should but don't have the wire hooked up to the pad (make sure the pad is insulated though so it doesn't short against the body of the boss kit) and again try to turn the wheel to narrow down if it is pad wierdness or boss kit wierdness.
also if you can see there is a little copper contact that rubs against the back of the boss kit pushed against it by a soft spring, that might be doing something funky
i had this same problem, i disconnected the horns...
then months later i had to go for RWC reconnected them and they were fine, then they stopped for a bit. i think some of the wiring was the dodge.
What is autosalon? Sounds kinda homo.

Gerald1: Maybe try running a long wire seperate to std loom out side the car direct to the horn from the contact ring /wire on the column.
see if it happens then .... if it does then i guess the problem is definatley boss area related.
if solved then i guess its a wiring fault and with the boss change the wiring was disturbed enough to show the fault.
??? otherwise im stumped .... didnt you just change looms too???

OK, so im using a momo steering wheel and an autotechnica boss kit, that metal ring that you speak of doesnt fit into the wheel so i didnt use it....could this be part of the problem :-P
also i have the same indicator problem thingo happening!

that ring is the electrical contact.
it stops the boss (which is earthed) contacting the positvie spring loaded pin!
thats your problem right there!
and the blinker cancel thing is the plastic spring thingy.
looked at your original steering wheel and note the holes that the plastic thing slots into and position the new boss the same.
whats happening is the spring pin + is touching the boss - on full lock.
always be worried when your left with spare parts lol![]()

should be on the base of the boss not the wheel.

One problem is that the Autotechnica steering boss is really not designed for the TA22.
The spline is correct but the overall design is not right. I'm guessing you have a gap between the boss and the end of the steering column.
A genuine Momo boss solves this, but they are hard to source. Have to get back to you if this solves such issues as indicator cancelling, etc, as my TA22 is not quite on the road yet.![]()
