6m crank is the same stroke and should have less counterweights It is a lighter crank that has been reported to rev out better.

Same capacity just lighter. Supposed to be not as smooth down low but reviver up top. I never noticed the lack of smoothness, in fact u could stand a coin on its edge on my rocker covers while the engine was running.

Why are you waiting til the bottom end is together to work out ur compression? It will be too late to do anything about it by then….. also why do you need to know ur compression to get cams ground? All u need to know for that is how u want the engine to behave lol

You should be able to work out comp now. u need to know bore, deck height, piston cc, head cc, HG thickness & bore. From memory standard GE pistons are a 12cc dish. For deck height u will need the crank and 1 x rod/piston in the block. What comp are you aiming for anyway?

What was the MHG in the vrs kit like? Is it a metal one in the full gasket kit too?

You got head studs too yeah?

Ajusa make a nice MHG that come in all their sets.

Longer duration cams usually means late closing of the intake valves. This works well with high compression ratios. I would be inclined to go as big as possible on the intake cam and as high as you can reasonably go on the CR. Maybe upto 11:1 and 230 degrees duration at 50thou. Don't bother with the exhaust cam on the NA engine upgrading it just makes the car idle badly.

Will sus out the gasket kit cheers. As good as a cometic or HKS jobie?

I realise that longer duration cams lower the static comp ratio but working out wat compression u have THEN ordering cams to suit is (imo) the wrong way around. Get cams ground, then fiddle with the bottom end to get the comp up high enough to suit the grind.
Either way, bigger is better and biggest is best lol.

For the record my 280 regrinds are 228deg @ 50thou

Sorry what i meant was im waiting to have all the bottom end parts machined than i'll dummy assembly it and than do what i have to get a decent comp ratio, (was thinking around (10.0:1 would be nice)

The reason i need to know a comp ratio is because my cam grinder has asked all sorts of questions like diff ratio, manual or auto tranny comp ratio, what i ate for dinner last night etc

Than he will grind the stock cams to what he thinks will suit me best (fyi camtech will be doing the cams i got a special price through work )

Ah ok I guess that’s one way of doing it….. my instructions to the cam grinder were simply “as big as u can go” lol

how much is the full gasket kit costing (u can PM me if u like)? if u get looked after on them maybe u can put a lil on for urself and buy me one too

bah 7 months is nothing, ive seen em go for years on an acl gasket *IF* the job was done properly

Can't say i've ever seen a fast 7m-ge...Only so much you can do in a heavy car with a low n/a displacement motor.

you can still make it fun however!, you'll want to adjust the timing, maybe a SAFC would be a good idea?
