I had a mishap on the weekend. Will be invetigating the exact cause this weekend, but basically at the end of the front straight, there was loss of power and a puff of smoke from the RHS bonnet vents. I got towed in and the support crew(Andrew, Dave, Slim, etc) came over to help investigate.
We started removing plugs and found number 4 was black, 2 and 3 had a bit of coolant on them and number 1 looked like this....
The other guys said you could see the top of the rod through a hole in the piston.I couldn't bring myself to look at the time...
There's been a few theories floating around, blocked injector, cam timing(piston to valve clearance), detonation, dropped valve. It will be interesting to see what can be used again...
Assumption is the mother of all f**kups...
