You're right about that cos I never saw it either. And a thing like that would be noticed at Winton.

Another thing i noticed is that a bloke called Tony Watson in car number 252 did an amazing lap time of 1:24.9918 in one of the practice sessions (P4).

Then when i went to look for his results in the Sunday race, Tony wasn't listed. Car 252 was however, but it was driven by a bloke called Brian Harding.

This is not what i was talking about earlier and i'm sure is just some kind of error... but how does that happen with the timing and why does the same car have different drivers?

169 laps does seem a tad over the 40% rule as stipulated in the Supp Regs don't it?

I think that the driver short tracked it at some point

If you're talking about the same person then it's 139 laps.

The 40% rule stipulates no driver can do more than 40% of the total time, not 40% of the laps (please correct me if i'm wrong, i haven't got access to the regs at the moment to double check).

The way he managed to achieve 139 is by hitting bonus laps for 42% of the time he was out there... single laps 52% of the time and only 5 out of 97 laps were too fast. Of those 5 the broken laps, the biggest error was 0.45sec.

I CBF adding up all the lap times to find out what his total track time for the day was.

    He did 107 base laps with 10 of those being * : ** : **** or y : yy : yyyy. So that's 97 laps under race conditions.

note: i wasn't counting the laps he was doing behind the safety car or in the pits.

    You are right.
    6.4 DRIVERS TIME LIMIT

No driver shall complete an aggregate of more than 40% of the 6 hour duration of the event or as otherwise expressly permitted by the Clerk of Course

Still, by my rough reckoning, and based on a rough average of about 1:45 per lap multiplied by 139 still equals approximately 201.55 minutes, divided by 60 to give hours, roughly equals 3.35 hours, that seems a tad over the 40% time limit, like over 50% of the time, but please check my numbers.

Like i said though, he didn't do 139 laps of the track. The number 139 is made up of his base laps plus bonus and minus penalties.

I think he was only out there for 107 based on what i worked out yesterday. Still works out to be about 50% of the total time though.

Edit: Just double checked. There's only 107 recorded laps in the results. See here: http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/re.../2010.WIN.S1.I

Cool, thanks for the clarification, either way, he/the team is in the shit, eh?

While you are looking, look at my times (403) and that of my team mate Andrew in 405, we didn't achieve any laps what so ever - interesting, it would appear that someone hasn't entered our nominated lap times of 1:44 (me) and 1:45 (Andrew). This could make things very interesting as well. Our paperwork that listed our nominated times was spot on, this was the form that was sent to timing on Saturday arvo, and updated by us Sunday morning, it was double/triple checked before it was sent up.

I did look at your results as it happens. Penalty lap for every lap you did. It did seem suss to me, but i put it down to you being old and losing your marbles.

Nah, all good, all good, all good, alldooslfdkj ;adsgj;lfsdfla;j

Seriously, it appears they haven't put our nominated lap times into the system and it appears to have defaulted to 2:10.

When you take a look at it again based on our nominated lap times of 1:44 and 1:45 repectively, it could get quite interesting in the re-calculations of podium finishers.

I am intrigued after all that time apparently spent checking results on the Sunday before the presentation, why all of this stuff slips through the cracks...indeed why isn't it picked up during the event.

If you got results during the event like the Phillip Island 6 Hour some of it would be headed off at the pass too. Oh well I should add it to my suggestion list to send to Neil.

I guess if you have legitimate grounds for a protest, that could be done within some specified timeframe? That's usually the go with competitive events, and depending on how fussed you are about it.

There should always be space for girls in a team :-)
