It's called priorities. Each person has to decide for themselves what their priorities are and then stand behind that decision. Just because multiple people have the same set of issues doesn't mean they are all going to percieve and respond to them in the same way.

The fact is that if you made going to the Toyota Nationals priority number one then you went and that's great. But there is a multitude of other things that could just as easily occupy the top priority spot and not allow you to go to the nationals even if you really wanted to. This isn't CBF this is just making responsable decisions. It's easy to percieve other peoples priorities as being out of wack. However that is just an opinion call based on your own priorities and we all know about opinions

Losing interest, changing interests/hobbies or just having a break is normal.

Growing up is an odd call though and a cheap shot a belittling many enthusiasts on here .
Yeah probably not the best term to use.... sorry i didnt mean to belittle anyone!
I probably should of said "grow out of it"... or something else entirely.
I'm not exactly the most gifted wordsmith (clearly)

I dont intend to grow up either - im just taking a break to make sure i can afford to play cars more often and not jeapardise my financial future. I really stuffed myself in the past, and its taken me a fair few years to catch up, I dont want to do that again.

Sorry to anyone i offended. Feel free to have a dig.

I avoided that problem by taking the g/f (she wanted to go to Nats anyway), made a camping trip out of it too as well as a birthday (was on Good Friday) and touristing by visiting the zoo and doing some shopping. Worked out great, even if it meant that I didn't enter a car (wasn't planning to this year anyway) and missed half the 'khana

I'll be the first to jump on board and say that the witzl is soft and gay.....

But he has attended many more nats than most.....

As to why people didnt come....
well thats up to them... i have missed them due to having to work....

Its not too dear to go.... for myself and bron $200 for accom (we shared with 2 others)
$225ish to enter - fri night dinner, sun night dinner, 1 car show and shine, 2 drivers in motokhana. and $80 in fuel (the lex did 7.5L/100km on the way out on premium)

so around $500 for the pair of us..... $250 each for three days away including entertainment... not too shabby i dont think....

As for "growing up" being an excuse.... my old man made it out, maybe trying to make up for years missed. and he is the sunny side of 60 , though the truth be known, if his driving is anything to go by, he hasn't grown up yet...... and we also had the owner of "ruby" the old crown - who also entered the driving events....

So we have settled that its not growing up, or really that expensive in comparison to any weekend.....

its really just peoples priorities at this point in time.....

Next years event is already on its way... so start planning and saving if need be....
And jump on one of the cruises out there - it makes the journey heaps more fun than cruising on your own....

Oh and did i say witzl is gay... (see ya there next year mate, or the one after.... )

    Cheers

Sorry for taking this long to post the results, it has led to some peeps getting the wrong info on who won what, so I hope this clears it all up.
We take the judging very seriously and don't appreciate being accused of 'rorting" the event.
If there is an issue ANYONE would like to discuss on the phone then please PM me and I will call you back, constructive criticism is always welcome, as we endeavour to make this event as great as we possibly can each and every year.
That's all from me for know. I'll be on later to talk aboutr some other things and what we're planning for next year.

    Cheers gals and guys

Thanks for posting it all up Danae.
Looking forward to what you have to share with us for next year, I'm sure you would of seen the hype in the thread around having both a khana and drags for next year. There has also been some pretty good suggestions on the logistics of running the two events.

One question on the judging, the Best Under Construction award, did the car have to be on show at the event. I myself didnt get to see it, so just wondering how it gets judged.

    Cheers
    Jack

Your never going to please everyone when it comes to the S/S awards. There will always be the people that think there car was better then someone else's and they should have got the award instead. But in all honesty who really gives a shit? Its a display so that you can show of your car to the public and talk shit about it and all things alike. Its about taking pride in what you own not what you are awarded for it.

My thoughts are that the cars that did win an award this year were F#cking clean in some way shape or form and deserved that award in some way or another.

Ill agree that perhaps the classes or categories do need some further refinement tho.

Thanks appreciate your comments. We can only go off what people put in their entry form under car description. If you don't fill it in then we do go and check out the car in order to place it in its correct class.

To be honest i was a little shady on the "car description" section. I don't remember what i put in there on my form but i think it was "ute". If it had the title of "car category" it may have made it a little more clearer to people that that would be the class they intended on entering in? Perhaps there needs to be something there saying "car category, this is the category of cars you believe your car is in and what it will be judged against"?

e.g. Pre 80 commercials, Classic commercials (tho there are fuck all of them )
I spose this would work for all the panelvans, vans and utes?

Or maybe i am the only one stupid enough not to work that out for myself . I don't enter in many shows after all. Not that it really bothers me what class or category i am in.
