okay... i just realised i did that for 20mm thick rotors, and the RX7 (to which i was comparing) has 22mm... so all my research was pointless... i'm blaming it on the beer, and sleepieness... will go back through it when i next need procrastination from study...

stops crap getting in there, and think i've head someone mentiong they aid in cooling, 'cause they duct air into the disc, but i think that's crap...

IMO, if you can... modify the plates to keep them, might even need to switch left to right (as in my case).

    dust shields are easily modified.

hammer tap the 2 raised rectangular sections flat.

tin snip / angle grind the caliper blank section larger to avoid the hilux caliper.

done! ive done it this way and all works well.

I find that the bin is more appreciative of them than me. Get some 2" convo tubing and rig up some brake cooling ducts, then get back to us

where do people get their peugot 604 272 vented brake discs machined down to 266?, i was told from one place that you need to get them engineered, another told me the cutting machine's diamond tip will snap due to it hitting the internal ribs (the metal that is in between the 2 faces of the disc) and the last place told me it is illegal. wtf is going on. At the same time drilling out/enlarging the 4 hole to 1.2mm is ok.

it is illegal if you don't get them engineered... AFAIK you can get almost any modification passed if an engineer says it's safe...

Race Brakes in Wetherill Park did mine. They said no guarauntees on anything that happens because of the machining and i was ok with that.

They will tell you its a 'race only' mod but who is going to know by looking at them?

I for one will be getting everything engineered on my car for piece of mind... plus this
conversion has been on many a persons engineering papers over the years so cant be that bad.

yeah i'll be there tomorrow to drop off the discs,

I got my corona xt130 hubs re-packed with new bearings & hub seal and my ln106 hilux calipers separated the pistons from Miles mechanics, located at 1 hiltop road merrylands 2160. As for the price, i'll find out tomorrow when i pick them up. I spoke to a guy called Danny, he gave me his card. When i mentioned it was for my celica, he said he also had a one but it was a LB (lift back). So yeah, someone to relate to about celicas.

i got mine machined at geneng in beenleigh they guys there said the ribs could cause problems, but they did it anyway, any semi decent machine shop will do it for ya

why would ya pay for somone to rebuild your hubs? it take all of an hour a largeish screwdriver (or bearing puller) hamer and a tub of grease. i dont see the logic in paying somone to do somthing i can, but thats cos im a tight-arse

In Vic i had my last set machined by Racing Projects in Mitcham, no idea if they are still around or not, or if they would do it for you.
