well i have a slight problem
My kitchen scales don't go beyond 5kilos and the brakes just kept on keeping on (applying weight to the scales that is).
estimate closer to 10kilos per rotor for r33
yeah.. that's my understanding... i don't want anything bloody heavy in my car... except my fat arse

FARK!! don't suppose you've got a RX7 rotors laying around somewhere?

...looks in pantry...nup...checks back pockets...nup...looks down pants...that's definately not a rotor...nup, sorry, i just have r33 stuff lying around, my intention is to use ra60 xmember and R&P and Cruzida's caliper spacer bracket to fit the r33 rotors and calipers to my RA40 and an RA28 so no rx7 stuff lying around, i sold the rx7 calipers to get the r33 calipers and rotors as a package.

when i was investigating using the rx7 brakes, i found 2 rotors that MAY have been a suitable to what i was looking for with small modifications (spacer rings, redrill of holes but same hole pattern)
one was the rear discs of a Honda NSX (300mm odd diamater) (DBA 487)
the other was the fronts for pajero iO series (285mm odd) (DBA 239)
both of these would have been for a 5 stud arrangement however.
I will have to look at my list at home for the 4 stud possibilities.
Either way a bracket was required to fit the calipers so i was looking for a disc that would make the bracket as least complicated as possible (a flat pane bracket).
the ra60 setup allowed the nissan caliper to just require a spacer to mount to the strut...all i need is some money and time to work it out along with the front sump for an 18r.![]()
Puegot rotors are not that far off for a RX7 caliper.. Thats what I plan on using anyhow.
barned01 - what's wrong with RX7 rotors?
'77 RA28LT #2 ← 2.2L 18RG...
nothing i guess. when i was doing measurements, i wanted to mount the rotor to the back of the hub so i wanted to find a disc that didn't have a very high hat height to it. (in the same way the pugoet rotor is mounted to the back of the corona hub). and the flatter the hat, the easier the caliper bracket. if you were mounting the rotor over the hub then i guess there are a heap of other rotors that can be chosen including the rx7 one (about 67mm hat height if i remember from the dba catalogue).
I was basing all my thinking on how Cool1 did his setup (for the record he used a spacer in the rx7 caliper to allow a thicker rotor, and then used a honda s2000 rotor which is 25mm thick, 300mm diameter rotor and also has a lowish hat height to allow the mounting of that particular rotor behind the hub...incredibly load blowing worthy if you can find a picture of it).
Remember i was (and still am) in the same boat as you with upgrading brakes (ie. i haven't done it), so all my work was based on measurements and a lot of guidance from Cool1.
I don't know if even my latest train of thought will work using an ra60 Xmember as the strut towers on the ra60 are further apart compared to ra23/8/40 so direct installation might cause too much negative camber (depending on how bad this might be if it is worth worrying about). adjustable strut tops mightbring the geometry back to standard ra60 geometry or possibly the ma61 strut which inherintly is a more positive camber strut.

i knew there was someone on here doing it but i didn't know who.Originally Posted by TA-022

was it you who showed a couple of pages in the private members rides thread about a few measurements and fitting it in a couple of months back, i had a glimpse of it but i don't remember ever reading the final results?
my main issue is that the strut tops will be closer than normal ra60 strut tops thus causing a more than normal negative camber issue. as well as the fact i would like to keep the 18rg for a couple more years yet so i need to see what measurements will be like to keep that fitted with the rear facing xmember and front sump 18r from a corona.
Stepho's page is where i got the idea from but i don't think it ever finished about the issues he had either, the driving, the geometry, the real world feel etc.
anyway i got this when i followed your link

hey guys rather than spam takia's gude i thought id post here to let u all know that ta22 springs sit fairly snugly in the rona perches so no need for welding n the sorts, i get my pug rotors back from the machine shop tomorrow so brakes may only be a few weeks off now![]()
Hm if thats the case then i could probably just reassemble as is, would just have to swap the inserts over.
Tempting...
