From the look of that list above, there's 5 different cases for JZA80's.

    2 for 6 speeds - 14080 & 14100
    3 for 5 speed and auto - 14100 (w/lsd), 24030, 24031 & 24040

Now need to cross other non supra models, esp Crown UZS's and Century GZG's for ratios. May turn something useful up since they aren't the usual JZ engine and possibly different g'boxes.

if its a 4.7 + and suits a 84 jza80 A series case and bolts to a torsen LSD that fits said case that didn't come with factory LSD consider it sold.

I'll bet at least a couple of those cases are different in only minor details

eg, they improved the breather to stop oil getting out, also some cases have fins, others dont

But yeh it makes no difference as far as cross-compatibility goes

If i change ratios in my UZS131, how did I go about getting a compatiable speedo gear drive.

I want to lower the ratio in the UZS131 and getting it reving less around town

sounded like she did in a bearing, and by the time a figured out it was a rod (on the freeway after maybe a 5sec 7500rpm squirt) i started babying it, then squeak! jammed

    seized solid

can only think its spun a big end

    ....

yup, am anticipating x1 crank and x1 rod plus a set of bearings and seals and a re-look at the oil lines

dont think it was oil pressure, but not sure, honestly wasnt looking

anyone got a stock crank hanging around?

for now, ill pull it out on sunday (wooofucken-hoooo, thanks always a bundle of fun) take the sump off and have a look, but otherwise ill rack it up onto a pallette and send it back up to yager to diagnose and rebuild....

Hmmm after reading this and other G/A series threads i'm don't think i'm any wiser but if someone can confirm:

A and G series R&P are NOT interchangable?

What was/is tallest G series ratio delivered locally?

    and what was it in?

    fingers crossed

You got it although if you have a A Series Hilux R&P it will interchange with a G series Hilux if the offset is correct. A series R&P from Supra/Soarer/Aristo is not interchangable with Hilux R&P.

Ok thanks that's a start. Offset can be cured with a spacer plate easy enough i suspect but only an issue if the tall ratios i'm chasing are found in the A series Hilux diff eh.

So can anyone shed light on what models/years to be chasing for the taller ratio'd G series (or hilux A series) diffs?

PS full spool on the way from US...recent dollar crash hurt a little, wish i had ordered a few weeks ago Still cheaper than Oz sources but a 1/3

What did it cost you all up (aud) Justen?
As discussed, sounds like you'll be the pioneer on the irs front

AFAIK the tallest G series hilux was 3.5 a mid 90's auto diesel, possibly twin cab?
Pretty sure Rod has one in his RA28. Have a look at his members ride thread.

    Or was it 3.7?

    Cheers
