Damn that's low....
Nice rims though.
First sleeping policeman and you will be scraping like a bitch
Or even a nice steep driveway.
So what size wheels have you got on it Camrypower? What rate are the corona(?) springs at the back, are they similar to the cressy rate? This whole thing shits me I just want it lowered nicely not ground scraping and don't want it stiff as Dirk Diggler. Lowered with a nice ride that doesn't bottom out seems to hard!

the rims are 18's. the spring part numbers are: KTFL-76SL for the fronts and KTRL-25 for the rear.Which gives you a 3 inch drop
So just to return this from the dead.
I put in ma70 struts in the rear of the cressie and over some pretty minor bumps i can hear a loud clunking or banging sound.
Im thinking its hitting bumpstops.
Where are the bumpstops? On the strut itself or chassis mounted?
If you have a pic of them it would help me out.
Im thinking i dont have any?
They just sound like they are completely loose.Obviously they arent.

I experienced the same as well. Just going over small bumps I hear a loud clunk. I thought it was something loose but wasn't.
Went to a suspension shop to look at it and they said it was a dead shock. They said something like when the shocks goes down it should slow down to absorb the shock. When the shock has a fault then the travel of the shock has a dead spot which doesn't slow down when compressing. Before installing you need to push the shock down and feel if the travel is constant. Obviously I found out the hard way.
If its new then it should be covered under warranty so they will give you a new one.
yeah not new. ffs!
so i pulled it out and the shock travel is fine top to bottom bottom to top. It doesnt stop or slow down or fasten up.
Same speed.
Other tests i can do?
Hi,
The bump stops are the rubber bits that slide over the shock shaft. They sit up the very top against the top hat.
If you are getting a clunking it shouldn't be the bump stop.......hit the bump stop and the car just goes solid.
Is the spring captive when the rear suspension is at full droop?
Pete
Strange that you inherited the clunk. I too have a clunk coming from the back left that i forgot about.. i assumed it was my spare wheel or my exhaust though. Don't remember if it sounded the same as yours..

Mine had a clunk in the rear recently and it was the adjustable end of the bottom control arm was ever so slightly loose. Thanks to those wonderful Bob Jane wheel alignment mechanics. They have even more scrathes on their knuckles (from dragging them along the ground) than your average mechanic.
Bushing maybe? Swaybar fouling?
