Hi,
I am rebuilding my 3tgte bottom end shortly, currently just collecting parts, and assume that the auxillary shaft has bearings that will need to be replaced after the block has been cleaned. Does anyone no where I can get these bearings?
Roger

YelloRolla's KE20 1/4mi = 11.32 @ 119mph @ 22psi on slicks
12.44 @ 113 mph on 165 wide street tyres
210rwkw - not bad for a smelly 3TGTE running pump fuel.
3T brudda's.
got my engine back together and running with new head bolts etc etc. All good.
However now the bottom end is making knocking noises etc so I'm now going to rebuild the bottom end.
Looking at doing it right the first and wanted some advice from you. Seems that SW Motorsport has a bit of good stuff on their homepage like forged pistons etc.
My plans for this engine is daily driving so massive power isn't my focus but i still want it to get up and boogie. I'll be running stock turbo and computer for now but these will be upgraded in due time.
Is there other parts of the bottom end i should do whilst I'm there? like a heavy duty clutch etc?
your comments are welcome.

The standard rods are decent so they shouldn't be a problem. These high volume oil pumps; http://www.brdracing.com/toyota_2tc_3tc_oil.htm are good stuffs. Before you go spending money on other bits from those guys, just be careful as they specialize in the early overhead valve versions of your motor, so anything to do with the head isn't any good to you. The bottom ends are pretty much the same though so go nuts![]()
wow thanks for the link there jap1yeah I've read the 3TGTE has some oil probs, looks like a worthy upgrade. I'm thinking of forged pistons as I will probably want a bit more power down the road a bit and dont want to have to rebuild the engine again (ie a ct26 turbo with new ECU). Plus I want to keep the car for a while so I want it to last a good 100,000kms.
Mech said not to buy anything yet as he wants to take it apart to see what is rooted on it. Engine never had good compression before and so he couldn't hear the bottom end dying.. now head is all good but bottom end is cranky.

Yeah forged pistons are what you need. It's piss easy to put a ct26 on, have a read half way down this page; http://www.toymods.org.au/forums/sho...t=3571&page=13
nice, yeah the previous owner (Cuts) gave me a manifold with the car that he used when he ran his GT4's CT26. Wasn't sure if i could use it with just any CT26? Haven't been on ebay to really price them.

Doesn't look like a CT26 to me![]()
Steeko,
The Eagle H beam Forged Rods are not all that much coin so I would recommend putting them in anyway if your not sure where your search for me KW is going to stop.
The 3T-GTE oil pumps area higher volume than any other T series oil Pump and do not suffer any sortof low pressure problems. If your pump is healthy it will be more than adequate. That brdracing oil pump is to upgrade a 2T or 3T, it probably has no more volume than your stock 3T-GTE item.
ANy 3T-GTE oiling problems are generally caused by a lack of oil itself, Prollonged high RPM can cause the oli to build up in the head and the amount of oil in the sump to become insuffient on tight cornering. A JMR winged sump will give you that little extra capacity and help with oil slosh within the sump. It would be a much more worthwhile use of your $$$.
Oh and while I think of it, Once the engine is rebuilt (if your machinist and engine builder do a decent job) then you will have quite high oil pressure from the stock 3T-GTE oil pump so I very stongly recommend ONLY using a Genine Toyota Oil Filter.

This has probably been asked but wondering the steps I should be using to fit an MLS head gasket?
Eg is bolt torque the same as a stock gasket, should I use sealant etc..
Planning to fit eagle rods, forged pistons, Moroso sump etc sometime soon...
jap1 - my bad,,, i meant Ct20b, Cuts said he took it off his gt4 so i imagine they come as standard on those cars. But i've heard people talking of upgrading to a CT26 also.
toyman, thanks for the info, didn't realise that oilpump was for a 2t to 3t type of upgrade.. Called SWmotorsports and their forged pistons are about $1200 he said.
and are custom made for a certain diameter depending if my block has already been bored.
Are these Eagle rods from a local or do I have to import them?
Engine being pulled apart tomorrow so we can measure the cylinder widths.
Yes have read up about getting proper Toyota oil filters, am just leaving it for a few weeks and then I'll go and buy 10 at a time so I have enough for a few oil changes.

I don't know if you've seen one in person Rod, but the BRD pumps are better;
Just a little more insurance against oil problemsBRD stock the Eagle rods. Check out their pistons as well, they are forged and a hella lot cheaper, I think I read somewhere that you can use 3TC ones in a 3TGTE

thanks all for the info.
Checked out the BRD website (http://www.brdracing.com).
They have pistons however none of them are referenced as "3TGTE", but you're right, they are a damn site cheaper than the $1200 from SWM.
These look most suitable, can anyone comment:

Read halfway through page 13 of this thread. Seems like the 3TC pistons will be right
Almost finished my bottom end rebuild, Last piece of the puzzel is main studs. I don't think there ARP make 3tgt/2tg/3tc/2t main studs. So I am wondering what people are using. I have heard 7mgte fit?
Also the oil galaries that are blocked on the last two cam bearings via a rod, my engine is being cleaned and would like to get these out. Do these screw out? if not is it possible to remove them? (my engine man may already have these out but just in case and its good info)
Thanks
Roger
