"Toyota 3TGTE - Lead Set (8 plug twin cam) A$186.95 (inc) Add to basket Favorites"

Is that correct? What's so special about the 3TGTE leads??

Also, I'll be popping my head in this thread a bit more from now on as I just purchased a 3TGTE for my TA22...

The boots are oddball to suit the twin spark setup, and of course you are buying 8 of them. If the boots on yours are ok then maybe look at getting a set of cheap V8 leads and swap them over.

Supercheap lists the engine mounts for the T-18:

    Front A5016 (requires 2)
Rear A5018 (requires 1 where attaches to gearbox mount.

Will probably order them this afternoon and put on all 3 new ones.
And you're right, I should be able to use the stock engine bracket.

So if you put on a CT26, you can't use the stock support? How else do you support it? Manufacture up a custom bracket to somehow reach the engine mount?

You drill the holes and weld some nuts on. But you don't need the t18 engine bracket do you? the t18 rubber mount from supercheap should be able to be used without modification on the original 3tgte engine braket.

    Radar,

The vacum thing at the end is the fuel reg, yes they are small and look a little different

considering it's difficult in finding a timing chain tensioner, is this article a suitable candidate to refurbish my existing one? ie is there any more resto a timing chain tensioner actually needs?

Hey when wiring up sequential wasted spark, can I just use 2 ford edis wasted spark modules?

Instead of the module firing in cyl 1&4, it fires both sparks in cyl 1?
And same when the module is meant to be firing in cyl 2&3, it fires instead just in cyl 2...
    and so on..
Is this how to do it?

From my vast vast experience of reading posts on Toymods, the wasted spark needs to fire in an uncompressed cylinder in order for the compressed cylinder to be properly loaded. So you will need 2 modules.

I need to edit the post above to sequential "Twin spark" not "Wasted spark"..
But other than that, sorry about the post I just had a bit more of a search and found out what I need to know.

    Radar,

If you want to go down the sequential ignition route you will need 8 modules driven from 4 outputs. But modules are cheap, I use IGBT transitors which cost about $6 each or mitisbishi j121 modules from a VR/VS or TE Magna, and then you will need 8 COP that are going to or eight single coils. Sounds expensive for small gains but each to their own.

As WDE BDY suggest firing a wasted spark coil into compressed cylinder only will give a weak spark.

So end of the day when you goto aftermarket computers unless you have 8 ign outputs the twin spark is just useless?

    Radar,

Still using 4 ignition outputs but the signal is typically spilt to drive two ignition modules (or one dual module) and two coils.

Yea I understand what ya saying, honestly though is it really worth all the effort just for direct fire twin spark?

Need some feedback guys. I currently have a T3/T4 Super 50 with a stage five turbine wheel. I am thinking of switching to a GT2871 52 trim w/.64 AR exhaust Garrett. At present with 1.2 bar boost I flow 30 Lbs/min. My plans are to run E85 and 1.8 bar boost. What do you think as far as size and spool with the Garrett.
