    Sorry to promote straying off topic but I'm always eager to learn...

    Concerning the "CT20b", if that is merely an internet nickname, what is the turbo actually called? Toyota would still have had to have some designation for it, I'm assuming it's just a late model CT20?

    beat me to it. Many snorkels dont face forward, but a noticeable improvement in highway driving/economy is found by people who fit forward facing snorkels rather than cone style ones.

    [QUOTE=o_man_ra23]Now theres some BS... the CT20b was an improved later version of the CT20, and is NOT the CT26 of the Gen 3 3S-GTE's. You can pick up good condition CT20b's for $300.QUOTE]

    GREAT LINK!!!!!!!!! the link says it all *cough*

    i found something similar when researching the turbo but it was a press release from toyota and it pretty much said the same thing......

    im not trying to be bitchy o_man_ra23 and dont want2 start trouble but i love my 3s range..... i wouldnt argue the point otherwise........

    sorry again

    Hairy nuts... so a CT20b doesnt actually exist, therefore I guess I was wrong, you cant buy something that doesnt exist therefore you cant buy a CT20b for $300. Then again, I could be wrong about that as somebody sold an air guitar on E-ghey.

    So its an unmarked CT26 your talking about, which would pretty much be on par with a CT26 twin entry (when talking about compatibility with a 4A), which would make it too big. So back to the CT20, which is a real turbo, available around the $300 in good condition mark, is much more suited to this application.

    Haha this thread has gone so off topic I havent posted cause I didnt want to interupt

    Not exactly the easiest information for a person new to cars like myself, but I've picked up some useful information out of all this I think.

    So basically the cheapest best power increase per $$ your looking at..

    New filter, K&N replacement or POD
    CAI (My car has a pipe that leads towards the front of the car anyway? Where would I need to move it?)
    Lighter Flywheel
    Exhaust

    Best bang for buck overall I'd be looking at a turbo (NO Idea what type anymore haha)

    Thanks for the helpful information and contribution to the thread sorry if I'm being "spoonfed" just need somewhere to learn I suppose

    yep as far as cheap NA mods they would be the go.

    if you want to go turbo budget in about 5K to do it properly (yes it can be done for less but i said properly) if it was from a decent workshop it would go closer to 8K. but as has been said bang for buck you cant beat FI and 150kw would be easy to get if not more.

    cheers

    In addition to Lindens comment on the power output of the FI motor, its not the kW you will notice the most, its the torque through the midrange. This is where you will get your best acceleration increase (with a well matched turbo) and also where you will notice a fuel consumption drop on the highway (Anyone who tells me a turbocharged vehicle isnt more efficient than an NA vehicle doesnt know how to use their right foot... just look at road trains, they wouldnt use turbos if they used more fuel would they?? They would just get a bigger motor.)

    forced induction mate, turbo - supercharger.

    and a T25G is just as good
    always wanted to get one of them, see if i could hybrid mate my t25 exhaust to the t25g compressor.

    different principle
    diesel harnesses exhaust energy cos they are pumping all the time.
    petrol engine, the turbo acts like backpressure
    power = fuel.
    economy = not fuel

    True OC... but when you cruising on the highway with a leaner AFR... a turbo engine setup right will use less fuel than a non-turbo engine setup right. Simply because you burn the fuel better, therefore you dont need as much of it.
