V8 supercars cant be compared to anything they are a total different design hat to DBA ones that and the fact that the hat is almost always machined true after every race (+ new rotors) because of the fact they will warp....... Something your average joe doesnt have access or the cash to do.

Im just telling what i was told from the horses mouth.......... Its the same with cross drilled and slotted rotors from dba.

They will tell you to steer clear of them and go with slotted only if you plan on taking your car to the track as they crack
yes 5055 rotors, you must be speaking to someone ive never talked to/with. the slotted+xdrilled "kangaroo paw" ones are shite and have warping problems that is true, but anyone that is in the competition braking industry will tell you that a hatted + slotted curved vane rotor is basically the best thing money can buy.
i compared mine to harrop ones b4 purchasing and the thicknesses are similar, the bolt pattern is the same and theyre made from the same material so i cant see a problem with the hats.
all AP kits over 330mm are hatted.
    alcon same
    harrop same
and im yet to see a large brake kit with non hatted rotors

but ill ask a mate that works for dba what his opinion is but then again he has dba 5000series rotors on his IPRA car so im pretty sure i know the answer he will give me.

i agree on the xdrilled ones though they are mainly a wank factor and ive seen way to many of them crack so i wouldnt use them.

also remember if your using the wrong pads it can make a rotor feel warped even when theyre not so it may be some ppls setup that is incorrect instead.
    cheers

Yeah id give em a call directly to dba australia.

There tech advisor was the guy who i spoke too........He was the one who told me not to buy em.

I would have bought 5000 series ( money wasnt the issue ) but he strongly erged me not too.

I must admit i was quite surprised when he told me this as the 5000 series is supposed to be their " premium motorsport rotor"

Ahh .... so its the kangaroo paw that will warp.

I knew they did cos........... like i said thats what the bloke said, Its interresting that he didint offer me the curved vane rotors---- its something i didnt know they offered.

yeah the 324x 30mm ones....... I got wilwood superlite 4 piston calipers for good measure too

So you can basicly get the two types of rotors from dba ???/ Kangaroo paw and std curved vane style??

the curved vane style are the "race" version and you normally have to ask for them otherwise they offer you the shite ones.
the kangaroo paw design is more of a marketing thing and theyre shite but probly better than straight vane rotors.
most 4000 series are KP style but if you know the right ppl you can get curved vane rotors for the same disc.

jst got the discs and hubs back for xt130-r33gtst brakes.
looks like it wont be too hard, ill template the bracket tonight but wont have them back till next week.
first thing i noticed is the pad with the wear indicator must go to the wheel side of the disc as the indicator touches the strut ears.
second thing is the caliper must be mounted low so you have to switch the struts left-right to mount the caliper on the front and thus avoid the steering arm.
a small section of the caliper needs to be dieground out to allow room for a bolt head and the bracket to sit correctly.
i just sacrificed a caliper for the cause and machined out 5mm more than needed to make sure there are no galleries nearby.
its between the caliper ears where there is a rib, and b4 i go too much further ill get it tested to make sure it can easily cope with the load (love knowing ppl with destructive testing equipment) put on it.
other than that it should be sorted for early next week.

the place that machined the 23/28 brackets for me stuffed them by not measureing correctly so i should have another set thurs next week.

ill get pics up when nath comes over to take pics

    cheers

went and had a look at the r33 setup tonight!!!....looks AWSUM!

i forgot to ask, whats the chance of getting the r33 kit to fit in 15"s?

nice 15s are so much easier to find then 16's.

I'd guess they wouldn't fit under there?

Big brakes need the forged style jap rims, with the spokes that gain elevation from the hub when heading towards the hoop ... iykwim

nah it shouldnt be too bad, as the xt130 hubs have quite an offset, pushing the wheel out, so may only just need a small spacer, and LONGER studs ;p....ie the hubs sit far forward off the disc.....
