The $84 was through some part mob in America, toyota can sell me a pair for $8 with a 3 day wait. Amayama wants $9 postage.
Looking for a new toy. If you have something 18r powered let me know.

I've put a gasket kit through the 45DCOEs on my 18R-GU, but have a couple of parts left over.

Does anyone know what the 7 smaller o-rings are for in this gasket kit?

can anyone help me find the thread on changing the head gasket on an 18rg
i have searched the suggested threads with no luck
my main concern is getting it all back together correctly , in some other engines that i have worked on
i could simply cable tie the cam gears to the chain , then it could only go back in the position
that it came off but on my engine there doesn't seem to be any holes in the cam gear to pass a cable tie through
after almost 15 years of racing the blue shitter blew the head gasket
i have the green manual as a guide , but it is a bit vague , a bit like me i suppose
    thanks

Set the bottom end to tdc then theres some marks on the cam that should be facing upwards I think the lobes end up pointing away from each other

Nothing couldn't be simpler:turn the timing mark to TDC.On the table put the head on some stands so it wouldn't be on the valves when the cam bearing caps are tightened.BEFORE tightening turn both cams so that the slot in cams is up! (this is a common time to bend valves..)
Lower the head on the block and find correct holes in cam gears and cams so that when chain is tight the TDC mark and cam slots are right (the slots just plain straight up!)

    In G-heads,SLOTS STRAIGHT UP!

So simple and so many ways to mess up and bend valves..

    That is a Toysport Header.
The TRD header is about the same.

Zammo, do you have any other pics of those extractors, from side on? They look to be 4 - 1?!

I've looked on the Toysport website but there doesn't seem to be any way of contacting the site owner.

those headers look more like a 4-2-1 type, with separated primaries and secondaries.
You can see there is part of the flange visible between no.3 and no.4 runners, which suggests that it is a larger flange to accommodate two runners (not just one). You can also see that no.2 and no.3 merge to the one collector towards the front end of the engine, and no.1 and no.4 merge further away - suggesting these do not merge to the single collector.

I'd suggest there are some 2-1 secondaries that match the pic above, which you are not seeing.

I think witzl is right. I've seen similar extractors and they come in 2 peices. Defiantly a duel flange in the pic.

Thanks, Witzl. I didn't take that close a look!

Zammo, if you're chasing a replacement for the factory exhaust manifold you can get new 18RG extractors through hurricane headers. You'll need to find a local distributor for their products as they did not deal direct to the public when I bought mine, but they should be able to help you with finding the right exhaust shop to supply the part.
