CT26 from a Gen2 3S-GTE (twin entry). If it blows then I will change it out for a GT28 and re-make the manifold.

I'm sure this is nothing "new" but thought I'd post it up for anyone who hasn't seen it.

It's the complete & exploded view of the 18RG oil pump. Glad I've seen it now as I know what I'm looking for and/or what I'll have to do to get a new one machined up.

I'll pull mine apart tonight (apparently an 18RC one) so I have more of an idea.

    Hi,

as food for though, the 350 v8 is 5735cc, but referred to as a 5.7l, whilst the 351 is 5751cc it is often referred to as a 5.8l. Going by that instance it is rounded to the nearest 100....

Ok well I've finally had the chance to play with the box of bits known as "my 18rg" and turn it into something that actually LOOKS like an 18RG.

Need some help identifying a few parts and bolt holes, hope y'all can help.

Photo 10 - there seems to be two different coolant sensors? What are they, what's the difference, and which one is which?

Photo 5 - what are these bolt holes?

Photo 6 - what's this? mr. toyota using screwdriver bits on their engine?

Photo 7 - some type of coolant gallery at the back of the block. it has a fitting in it with an opening at the side, and a plug in that which seems to block it off. What would it have been? And why two plug wierdness?

Photo 8 - What are/were these holes, what's the hole in the timing cover, and is the oil pressure sender in the right spot?

photo 2 - this is the coolant housing again. you can see one of the plugs/sensors in this pic, but also a big blanking plug. what is/was that for?

photo 3 - what be all these holes?

A lot of those "holes" are merely bolt hole for mounting stuff? They're not all the way through.

Didn't the 18R-GU have mounting holes for the air-pump and air-pump injector rail thingo? Would these bolt holes be carried through onto the 18R-GUE block/head?

And looks like the air-con bracket holes in another pic. I can check against Trini's engine, being an 18R-GUE, but it's raining and she's under cover and I don't want to get her or myself wet at the moment.

Not sure, obviously one is for the temp gauge. Usually there is a temp switched vacuum valve on there which controls vac advance also.

Photo 5 - what are these bolt holes?
The bolt holes on the side towards the front are for the a/c comp.
The ones underneath the exhaust port may be for the air pump or egr??

Photo 6 - what's this? mr. toyota using screwdriver bits on their engine?
I've never noticed that there before LOL.

Photo 7 - some type of coolant gallery at the back of the block. it has a fitting in it with an opening at the side, and a plug in that which seems to block it off. What would it have been? And why two plug wierdness? Its the coolant drain for the block. i.e. to drain the coolant just undo the smaller plug and it will drain downwards if you place the hole downwards when setting the big plug. (its two piece so you can pretty much set and forget the big plug in the right spot and then just use the smaller one to drain)

Photo 8 - What are/were these holes, what's the hole in the timing cover, and is the oil pressure sender in the right spot?
Holes for the forward engine mount position I think (in the block)

Hole in timing cover for i think an alternator mount in some versions of the engine. (this is internet hearsay so pinch of salt required), may also be air pump??. Mine has nothing attached to it.

Originally prolly had dikloads of temp actuated vacuum switches and whatnot.
photo 3 - what be all these holes?
Holes under exhaust ports most likely for airpump or EGR.

Holes in head i have no idea lol. in the 18rgeu they aren't drilled.

Thank you good sirs, very helpful.

As I've never had the engine in a car / I bought it in boxes, I'm trying to suss out what's what. As mentioned a lot of them are bolt holes which can be ignored, but others like the coolant drain need to be reviewed.

I'm setting this up as a new engine combo, I'm trying to work out what I do/don't need to connect and/or find parts for.

The long ram tubes they come look look like they'll fit no probs....remote brake booster will be needed but that was on the cards anyway.

It was around 9:1 but i have some new domed pistons that will bump that up a bit....i haven't done the calcs yet but hopefully up around 10.5:1 I'll run it on E85, so it can take some compression and ign advance. It should make 200+hp easy, which in a 700kg car should be quite spritely even with the auto
