just couse you cant buy hks this and apexi that dosnt mean theres nothing available for a 1g, getting stuff made is really no dearer than buying so called stuff off the shelf, take the adjustable cam gears for instance, for the price jamie can get you both gears for is not that far off the price your can get one hks cam gear.
you can get aftermarket bearings and valve springs, as for pistons and rings all you have to do is supply a sample, and they will make them too however you want, prices arent rediculous, cams only need to be sent away and they can also be made too watever specs you want, rods arent really required as ive never heard of anyone breaking a rod but you can get them made aswell, not too sure on an oil pump upgrade as ive never looked into it, theres hks turbo manifolds floating around with either t3 or t4 flanges on them, not a great deal dearer to get a custom made one if thats wat you want.
if you want too do a standard rebuild everything can still be bough through toyota, though some stuff has to be imported through japan which usually takes about 3 weeks.
the only thing as far as i know you cant get is the triple layer head gaskets, youre all too slow![]()
injectors you can use the popular 7mgte one which are 440cc or tyhe 13bt ones which are 550cc and they both pretty much plug straight in ive used both.
as for the head and the block any machine shop can do that for you.
is there anything ive missed?![]()
some food for thought anyway![]()

1980RIP NATHAN BRETT DEAN2007,
If you're planning to push the 1g to over 200rwkw I wouldn't suggest stock internals.
You'll definately need a decent sized turbo. The GT3701 (i think that's the one) is fair sweet. You could also probably get a hybrid one made up (mates got an apexi housing with a garrett turbo hybrid for his sr20). Obviously you'll need a custom manifold, suitable exhaust (i suggest custom make a short pipe that goes out to the side, no muffler or anything lame like that.)
at least 550 injectors, complete gasket overhaul (metal gasket kit..), engine + oil cooling. Best bet would be to get a custom block + head made up with custom made pistons... fuck it.. custom made everything cause at least that way it'll last for a long timeCams, etc etc. Essentially you'll be getting a brand-spanking new engine.
Oh yeah... difference between 6cyl and 4cyl -> more torque from a 6cyl![]()
Contact Russell at RHDJapan tell him your after some bits & they'll do some hunting for you. Some of the single tubby kits are quite cheap & an easy to route make power, the hard work is done for you, bolt on & go
I'm not sure a GT3076 would be any good on 2L ?? super responsive on a JZ though so just maybe??

Correct, but it was mainly the head gasket...Originally Posted by DQIKST

Nothing wrong with the stock gaskets. If the HG goes it's one of 3 things.
Most likely is detonation. In audible det will still kill HGs. All the metal one is giving you is a bit more margin for error, hasn't fixed the prob though.
Second is the stock head bolts stretching. Used to have this prob on my old 18RGT over 20 psi.
The 3rd is possibly the dreaded 7M curse of differential expansion between the long head and block surfaces. Haven't heard of this being as bad on the 1G but on older engines a valid concern.
The stock HG should be fine and will do the job until something else fails 1st.

Another one which Justen hasn't mentioned is that of age and sitting around. The dude from the head shop who checked mine out when I had a BHG said that was the most likely reason for it happening. When the engine sits around dormant, in my case around 5+ years, the gasket itself starts to break down a bit, then you pump boost through it and it's not a happy camper!

i had a BHG on my 1g when i first bough the 23, but that was due to a OVERHEATING prob,
2nd motor lasted a year on 14-15 psi with ALOT of abuse, a couple of burnout comps, track days, drags, motorkanas, where the motor would see 6000rpm plus almost all day long,
until i fitted it with the gt30 that i killed it, (in a burnout comp) where i destroyed the NO 4 rod bearing,...
other than the bearing the rest of the motor looked VERY clean still, no marks in the bore's or damage or crack on the pistons (bit of piting ontop of a few from spark plug electrodes bouncing around in side,
head gasket didnt have any signs of leakage or dasmage round any of the gallerys,
Just wait, the crank pulley will chew itself a wider keyway...![]()

IMO for an all rounder the disco potato or gt2860 is just a little on the small side of perfect
i seen a GT2871 on one of my custom manifolds and it was really strong!
spooled nice and early too, i recon perfect allrounder and would be good for 200rwkw
if you want more then theres the GT2876 which is the bigest t25 frame available and would start to get a little laggy for street use, should be good for 230rwkw odd
from there any of the GT30 or GT35 range is going to be a total lag monster but the only way to make bigger numbers, lots of other stiff would be needed too like cams and head work for it all to be a workable combination
I have an HKS 2540 (same wheel sizes as garrett GT2871) on mine and its ok not ideal the garrett version goes better, the HKS is designed for a smaller engine running biger boost so its housings are not idealy matched for a 2lt engine, still goes hard but restricts overall power
a fool remains undescovered untill he speaks!
i wish people would stop fucking on about strads 11 second pass. its in nearly every fucking thread dammit.
its nothing special! he ran stupid boost. slicks and broke the motor in the process....
