I recken the 1ggte is a great engine in standard form with the exception of an aftermarket turbo. Since aftermarket parts are a bit hard to get I think if you are SERIOUS about making power id build a 1J/2J with a decent sized turbo. 'Performance' shops actually know what a 1J/2J is. For the same amount of money you will probably make more power.

3700 rpm in first for full boost of 12 psi?
what diff ratio, and what weight.
and what sort of rpm in 2nd or 3rd?

    diff ratio 3.7:1

    weighs...round the 1150 + driver 120

yep full boost at round the 3700 mark in 1st, then i just get crazy amounts of wheelspin

2nd probably more round the 3000-3500 then its starts to sway (almost break traction with 225/50/17 big tyre....)

either way the gt3071r is always on boost after 3500, and by NO MEANS IS IT A LAG MONSTER

lag monsters are from 5000 onwards

and im only pushing 12psi, not even 1/2 the capable limit of this turbo

hmm, this sounds better than my fucked rb20 turbo.
    but i ahve a 4.3 ratio.
4.11 is in the mail...broke the 4.3, fucking bearings exploding...
mine used to try andlight up first with brand new 225/50r15 with only 9 pound of boost. that was when the turbo used to ramp up hard. now it doesnt see boost til 4grand...stupid housing getting in the way of my turbine

on the talk of housings, what housings are you running?
    im assuming the small ones?
i think my original plans or GT3071R will be all good
no need to play around with getting a 28 housing with a T3 baseplate like my tuner had been speaking off.

cant wait to get car back on road, i miss the power
a little lag wont hurt. should be good for fuel economy

    Blake,

My boost spikes to 1.1bar then drops away to 1.0bar (Say 15psi) I have a Apexi AVC-R which I will hopefully get installed before Dyno day and with that I will be able to hold a steady boost level and sit it right below the boost cut. After that it needs programable management so I can control the timing which it desperatly needs.

What you boys recon high-flow gen3 turbos would be worth... I have a set of Blitz Bag hi flow which are 15% bigger then gen 3 turbos wondering if they be capable of breaking 200rwkw. Also anyone know how much a set of cams and cam gears would help overall power... I know drivability will be better improved just curious about the total power output improvement... I know forcefed got 30hp out of his gears alone...
Just after some opinions to easy my mind while i am working on this

I am trying to break the 200rwkw mark on a set of stock Gen 3 Turbo's (Hopefully for Dyno Day) so the BLitz bag turbo's should be capable of it.

all depends how well set up the motor is and how fresh it is.
i get a feeling most are fairly clapped out when u get them from the importers, due to the weight they have to lug around.
