Well from a totally stock 2nd engine with all bolt ons, I made 350rwhp running 23psi and use to shift at 7500 but limited to 8500. It was a T04R. That motor lasted more than a 1.5 yrs and just got a bit smokey.
Then I put a 66mm front wheel and a set of forgies and turned the boost up to 27psi and now make 420rwhp. Then got head flowed and bigger valves and made no more power. Next looking into some cams for it.
So it can be done fairly easy as long as it has the fuel and is tuned right. When I 1st got it going it made 300rwhp and run 11.8@121mph in the gem.

Haven't read through yet, so hopefully this isnt to dumb. But last night i was on the toilet pondering many thoughts..!

I was thinking, how bad an idea would it be to run a twin turbo set up comprised of one ct12 and one ct26? Or like a ct12 and a t25g or t28?
Purely for wank factor and slightly to do with keeping lag down and boost up, i wanna stay twin turbo... I just like the ring to it!

    Any thoughts?

    Cheers,

Hey 160TU I am getting some cams this following week for the 1G from Waggot cams. I am sending mien away and then send them all your specs, gear ratio, stall and the reground you a custom set from your cams. Also big help is if you get adjustable cam gears as you get full use of the new cams and easier to dial them in. If you interested PM maybe he can do better on the price with two sets. I am paying $800 for a set.

My engine done 174 thousand km but compression at 162 thousand was a lovely 155 on all cylinders except two that showed 150 across the board so the rings are still in good nick. Should be good for 200rwkw with cams I hope but the auto will hinder the dyno numbers a bit...

So what is the general consensus here on sizing; what is the point where a turbo on a 1G-GTE where a turbo becomes too large?

Obviously this is very subjective and will depend on the person preference, but I'm interested in opinions from 1G owners who've the single turbo route.

People have mentioned the GT3076; Seems to be pretty resposive on a 1J. Does it really take that much longer to spool up?

    hey guys,
seems like a few good ideas out there!
few questions.. what about after market computers? do most people run them when they go single? or is it okay to run the standard?
    cheers!

I think that for a good responsive turbo you would use a .58 exhaust housing but you would be limited to power in the top end
But if you want big power and can handle a bit of lag use a .84 exhaust housing

The KKR range that OTMOTO (sponsor) import are a good cheep option

3076r would come on at about 3800-4000 with a .63 rear.
with gears maybe faster, then cams and springs quicker again.
most depends on manifolding and tuning and the rest of your support systems come into play.
you should get to the 280kw mark with this turbo at about 23-26psi depends on if the bottom end handling the boost and revs.
other than that its bigger turbo and lots of lag.
