i dont have that to worry about, however would use it to keep the auto working instead.
They use the auxillairy outputs to fool the standard ecu with air flow outputs etc to keep it happy.

Looking like a very feasable option at this stage.

I'd piss the factory ecu off completely.

If you are getting the auto full built to handle 1000Nm of torque (coz a 1UZ with 20PSI will put this out), then you'll be wanting to manually shift the auto with an MV autobox controller anyway.

Unless of course you are doing all this to a UZZ30 Soarer, and not an engine swap.
I never know what you are planning.

I run an Autronic with great success, can be wired in parallel with the stock ECU if needs be.

Adaptronic is the new golden child for UZs though and at the price has to be worth a look.

    Manualise the auto i say

i would save up for an autronic without hesitation!!!

all the others will seem fine for a while but most others dont fully extrapolate between load bands so ita hard to get stable mixtures down low and things like the adaptronic are not even sequential!

if you want good fuel mixture controll (and you will NEED it good for 20 psi) then the autronic is the best because its not only fully sequential but its also adjustable for the injector puls width position in the engine cycle. the result is awsome economy and wonderfully stable fuel mixtures = long engine life and saving on fuel =

FWIW, I have an Autronic SM4 on a 1UZ, and I'm very happy with it. Gives you the option of running water/methanol injection and boost control with the PWM outputs, with plenty of on/off output left for multistage nitrous.

No answer yet on whether you can tag along on the Adaptronic GB...

1jz racing not many people on here can afford autronic hehehehe

i used to work for the autronic agents in nsw back in 1995 and just love them

i recently did one on an r33
    and also an fj20t in a 1600

you cant go wrong with the new model sm4 needs

another issue is he wants auto to work by itself

so u have to then wire up the std ecu then piggy back the autronic

    could cause more headaches

i also recently did a motec and when i rang their helpdesk for afew things i asked them about auto control

people have said that motec can control autos

the helpdesk said no motec can do auto control

so i dont know of any aftermarket ecu that can do engine and auto together

next time i talk to autronic guy ill see if the sm4 can do anything but i doubt it

yea fare enough ..... i do hear you about the cost

BUT autronic smc cost $1800 .... in the long run most people will end up paying more by the time they get seperate boost controll, discover and overcome all the downfalls of lesser ecu's and get others tuned. remember the autronic can be fully tuned in about 1 hour by someone who knows their stuff, everything else will take at least 4-5 hours and that costs big money!

plus how much will it cost if you loose an engine and at the end of the day you still have an ecu that is a cheap compromise

Last time I priced an SM4 they were $2200. There is a bit of a variation between vendors, so it pays to shop around. I paid $2600 for mine

I have a techedge 2CO wideband O2 controller, and have done all of my tuning myself on the road. I believe this can be done with the adaptronic too.

Correct, the Adaptronic can tune itself as well. Does quite a good job of the low load stuff on the road. Ideally the auto-tune for high loads is done on a dyno (which it can do very fast). I'm a lot happier with it than when I first started. I've slowly been prodding Andy to fix various things. The more picky people we get, the better.

$1800??? well i guess for the $1000 list price of the adaptronic and considering i can get 1uz for around $800 i guess you might say i could afford to loose 1 motor before i break even buying a autronic hehe

Any tuner no matter wot the ECU could still blow my motor, espicially on such high boost.
Looks like adaptronic will be a goer.....

Cheers for all ya help guys....espiecially Jasper.

Apart from the Adaptronic in the SCed Soarer I've got the other Adaptronic in my Soarer with ITB's. Both the SCed Soarer and mine are manual so if you want to use an auto you'd hook it up with the stock ECU to look after the shifts. All the documentation is on the Adaptronic site so you can't go too wrong.

I was also looking at the Autronic but for less than the purchase price of that I got the Adaptronic bought, installed and tuned on the dyno for 5 hours. If you're not using the extra stuff of the Autronic why pay for it IMHO.
