1ggte wont idle :(

Im having issues getting my newly transplanted 1ggte to idle in my new rt142. It ran fine in the old car but I have changed a few things in this new car. Main differences are new td04 turbos, water to air intercooler, 7mgte injectors. I have played with the iscv and gave it a clean but I dont think its working properly or at all. I got the idle to pick up when I phisically moved the valve outwards myself to let some air by. Is there any way to testing the iscv?? The only way i can get it to idle well is by removing a vacuum hose on the plenum!

In the old car the battery went flat a few times and I experienced the low idle upon its first few starts but it seemed to clear itself after a few starts. I have started and stopped, revved and driven it up and down my driveway (about 100m long) but its still no better.

Im also having troubles with the engine missing as soon as it gets any boost. I think it could be the 7mgte injectors drowning the engine but I have backed off the fuel pressure to as low as 20psi. At 20psi it doesnt seem to miss as bad but it still misses badly. I have checked the leads and their resistance is about the same but the plugs are BLACK! Overfuelling?? The engine isnt showing any fault codes either. Anyone got any suggestions?

the 7mgte injectors will be delivering >35% more fuel... you're running massively rich and the poor motor needs the extra air just to get into an AFR region where petrol will combust.

Have you got plans for an aftermarket ECU? perhaps those plans should brought forward?

Yeah just reading a bit more, maybe the 7mgte injectors could be flooding my engine. I do have a hks fcon that has been chipped for a t04 kit. Apparently there is a injector adjustment inside. Other than that, i wanted to keep it with the stock ecu.

I went the 7mgte injectors as the td04 kit came with 2 extra injectors on the intake plumbing. I didnt use those extra injectors so i thought the 7mgte ones were the go...

I have no idea the performance of the td04s yet either

Insert smaller injectors? Then if it doesnt idle then, you will need to look somewhere else.

if you want to retain the stock ecu, then go back to stock injectors - it's fuel/timing maps are for those particular injectors.

i don't know much about hks computers - is that unit designed to control two extra injectors or is it to piggyback onto the factory unit to control/override all the injectors?

The stock ecu isnt scaled to run 7mgte injectors, your car wont idle as its running rich, you will also notice that the throttle will feel like its sticky when changing throttle position. Lowering the fuel pressure isnt going to help you out at all, by doing such you lower the flow capacity of the 7mgte injectors. So whats the point of doing this? You wouldnt be able to lower it enough to get the 1g stock ecu to control the mixtures correctly, not to mention spray pattern problems you can run into by running such low fuel pressure on a high pressure efi system.

If you want to retain 1g stock ecu and run 7mgte injectors, I suggest you go out and get yourself a Greddy emanage, unichip, or some other piggy back system with plenty of adjustment, hopefully you will have enough adjustment in it to compensate for the 35% increase in injector flow capacity. You will have to check with the supplier if their system can cover this sort of range. Id suggest you just go with an aftermarket ecu if you want to run these injectors though

If you want to test the ISCV, here's the pages in the TSRM on the 7MGTE on how to test the ISCV. I know its not the 1GGTE ISCV but this test may still work the same on the 1G ISCV. Wouldn't hurt to try anyways.

thanks everyone for your help. The stock injectors are back in and shes idleing ok now. Before I swapped back to the stock injectors I plugged in the HKS F-con piggy back computer and the graphics controller that allows fine tuning of the injectors. It still wouldnt idle with the injectors wound back so I guess the 7mgte injectors were always going to be too big for my setup. Oh well I only want about 200rwkw, I hope the stockers are up to the task. Thanks again everyone.

The biggest adjustment to a map ive been able to see be made to a fuel map by a piggy back computer was about 30 % either way. Dont think your stock squiters will go much beyond 170rwkw

I agree, not to mention the fact that when you are using the stock ecu you have to deal with the inaccurate afm controlling the show
