ok ive had the toyo t1-r's on the car and ive taken them out to a few runs at WSID and given my current setup with 200+ kw @ the front wheels the tyres didnt hold up to well at all ..... i did better 60' times when my car was N/A ...... now before i go out and get a pair of RT615's for the front to go to WSID what other options do i have ?

A lot of the tyres that im seeing discussed in this thread are mainly circuit tyres e.g. R888's etc.

Im looking to get a 2nd set of rims and have a full set of tyres so i can head out to wakefield eventually. So as a compromise will the RT615's do the job to cover me for just having the front pair done for WSID and all 4 for wakefield ?

or should i simply get a pair for WSID and a completely different set of 4 for wakefield ?

if so what do you guys recommend ..... bearing in mind i need them in 16's as anything smaller wont get over my brake setup and my stock setup is 205/50/16's.

    cheers
    Bill

toyo R888's will work better at the strip and the track than RT615's

get a 2nd set of wheels, put R888's or similar on them, and keep them for use on the strip or circuit only would be my recommendation

Yeah, it really depends on if you can afford to have tyres specific for the track. If so, then get proper R-comps like the R888.

If not, then the RT615s are the best compromise for street and track.

I picked up some Mickey Thompsons from Rocket Industries at huntingwood. Semi slick 225/50/15's.

I picked them up blemished for $397.00 Including GST for a pair. usually around 500 for a pair.

I know these are moslty for drags but just letting everyone know. You may be able to get other sizes blemished aswell. I think its worth the call if needed.

found this good review while doing some searching.
It covers most of the major brands used in serious competition and by weekend hacks alike (except Toyo).

Missed this the first time round.

I suppose my daily commute is mainly highway driving but I don't drive slowly.

Note that this is my 1400-1500kg 4WD that we're talking about here. It hasn't been on the track but has done a lot of spirited driving especially on roads just outside of Canberra.

6-8k is bugger all. Do you do burnouts everywhere you go?!
