hmm I think I know a way in which I can adapt a T type mount without having a demo car. So if the mounts are in the stock position that the TA22 is then it's compatiable right?

oh yeah that... well it hasnt been finalised but for A series 16V engine mounts assuming it clears the tunnel would likely be somewhere in the region of $600 inc my $200 worth of parts that I have to pull out from the wrecker. The steering column top half would be on an exchange basis. For 20V or any other combo it would just be more, but not by much.

I wouldn't take it personally if you or anyone else lost interest here and now. I want to make it cheaper but its a full days work just in converting the crossmembers let alone the steering bits and the other crap.

oh as for power steering I need to have an ae86 PS crossmember as a starting point, they are different you see. Either that or something else that has the same distance between lower control arm bolt holes.

the actual engine part part of the mounts no, not for the first one anyway. For the second and third yes. I actually used a KE70 crossmember for the third one, I figured it was more compatiable and I was right.

Now to bolf the whole crossmember in the thing has the ends cut off just after the mounting holes, it's put in my jig and releived further to make room for my new mounting plates + crush tube assembly. That's welded in and then braced up.

I need to get some more pics.

what I need to find out is will the mounts on an ae71 crossmember modded to bolt in but with untouched engine mount brackets fit ok. I know a 16V engine is fine but I have yet to check with the bellhousing. However I think I have someone local who is quite interested. It seems likely though that it will need to be moved forward 20mm though for clearence. The bright side of this is that 16V and 20V engines will use the same crossmember and I will get to use KE70 crossmembers for both as a starting point, however the price will be higher. I will need to work out more details before I can finalise a price really. More things I need to do but I am pretty commited and patient enough.

For me next time I will have some better quality pics of my work before paint to show it as it is without anything hidden. I am going to get a TA22 crossmember back and use it to make a new engine mount attachment to suit the T series engine mounts. Because I will be using the jig the engine will be held in exactly the same position as stock so I won't need a test fit which is great.

Anyway I didn't want this thread to turn into one big sales pitch from me however it somewhat has come out like that. But hopefully I have given people something to think about.

    Not at all.
I think the price is well justified considereing all the R+D that has gone into it and it will be a proven package once it's up for sale.

Any word on when you'll be able to put it through some real testing?

Please note my genuine interest in a full kit, stock 2TG mounts. Cash is waiting

Sam_Q it looks like you are not shortening either the rack or the cross member is this correct? Nothing wrong with this as long as people are aware that this increases the track which there are limits on how far you can legally go and you wont be able to run as much -offset rims.

yes that's right, don't worry if anyone is interested I will give them a full run down on what it would take to fit it, the downsides and what they need to do. But yes the lower control arm's would in most cases need to be shortened. I will try and find some shorter stock steering arms but I dont like my chances. Also unless ae86 steering arms are fitted I am pretty sure there will be a reduction in steering lock, I will find out more.

unbreakable: that's what I like about you Celica guys, your in touch with the reality of time it takes to design and make things, pity about many of the AE86 owners . Unfortunetly I am going to be many weeks yet as I have never been so busy in my whole life as now. Also I need to wait to get the template TA22 crossmember back so I can make a new engine mount part of my jig to suit the T series mounts. Shelldrake/eddie is doing a few things at once so his car won't be going for a little while. However I do have someone else also in Vic who is interested. I will see the results first hand for myself before anyone out of state gets it.
