i know this has been done by a nearby workshop for their AE86 racer (with SR20)..Originally Posted by Rallystanza
in their KE20 they used AE86 rack, member, uprights, and FD rx7 calipers, but not sure on discs..
its not the LCA or tierods that are the problem. its the shithouse upright design and location of the holes for the BJ and tierodend.Originally Posted by twentyEight

So i did a few measurements this evening.
Photo's are hopefully self explanatory but are within 2-3mm accurate.
This is strut center to center for stock placement, Obivously this will be changed with camber tops. This measurement on stock s13 fitment was 108CM
Dont mind my fully sick blue engine mounts for my 1jz
How a JZ front sump fits in s13 x member, From a quick eye ball of engine mount and sump it will be close to fitting.
Measurements
Could one weld on plate to current LCA mounts and re drill holes offset to original holes to alter RCA?
So does anyone have accurate S13 and RA28 LCA lengths? I didnt get a chance to dismantle mine for accurate enough measurements.
More comparisons pics for S13.
This is S13 strut tower distance when camber tops are dialled in for max camber (shorter center to center distance between the 2 strut tops) 103cm aprox. Stock is 108cm meaning the camber tops have been moved in aprox 2.5cm each side. My conclusion is that i think i will be able to dial out the camber enough with camber tops on my ra28 to suit street with S13 front end.
This shot outlines the stock S13 strut positioning hat. Notice the camber and castor already built into the strut tower
This shot really has no point but to outline aprox how much castor it has
Hopefully ill get all the s13 front end to work. Ill let you know in a few weeks. Just have to get this 18rg built for a guy before i do to much playing!![]()
Ok my air compressor isnt working atm because power supply in my street is shit house so i cant finish 18rg
So i got back to playing.
As you can see the S13's LCA as a much bigger kick in it at the bottom and is about 40mm longer. This doesnt really mean much for Roll center untill we can get a LCA angle from ground paralell at ride height etc but its a start in the right direction. The BJ between RA28 and S13 are of similar height, its only the control arm that would alter the overall height of the BJ considerably. As someone previously mentioned tho, after market heigher BJ's can be purchased for S13's. I will also add that the S13 LCA is wider at the pivot point (where the bush and crush tube goes) the ra28 crush tube is 59.5mm and the S13 is 62.5mm, you will need to know this if you are going to swap LCA's from cross member etc
The S13 is the larger LCA of the two and is covered in white overspray
Whats is stock front track of ra28?
S13 is said to be 1466mm..........

After stuffing around for half a day i think i may choose not pursue this path for my front end suspension. I will post pics of what progress i did make tho just for those who may be interested in the future or any other references people may have
Not all of the pics are going to be usefull to anyone but just incase ill throw them in....
Shortening cross member to fit inside chassis lip. Needs to be arpox 78-80cm total length.
This was just a rough dummy up because i got the S13 front for nothing. I could have moved things around alot more to acheive less castor etc but meh. The cross member needed to be moved back a fair bit to reduce castor. I think the main issue here tho was that the rack seems to be way to low and the need for custom castor rods and sway bars didnt really tickle my fancy with the lack of machining facilities i have atm. Ill have a bit more of a tinker tomorow, maybe ill add up the pro's and cons of the two conversions i have in mind and see what to do.
If anyone wants any further measurements i can help you out.
If you want all this crap deleted from thread then just let me know![]()

hey last night i assembled the s13 coilover set up in my ra23 celica
i used ge sigma lower control arms with the s13 ball joint (they press in all you have to do is dremel the inside of the lca out to get the ripples stuff off)
i put it all together but even with camber tops wound all the way out for neg camber i still have postive camber sooo ge sigma lcas are to short for celica
tomorrow im getting some r33 lca which are slightly longer than s13 arms so maybe this will solve my problem and give me even more track/camber
also has anyone else done this conversion to a celica if you have what lca did you use?
so yer i fitted the r33 lcas and its wayyyy better lots of camber now
the reason you need longer lcas is cause of the tower top on an ra23 hasnt got that slight lean that the ae does but yes seams to work quiet well now all i need is a motor so i can drive it
hopefully not too dumb (and I've not read the thread from the start) - but has anyone put an S13 strut into an MA61/RA65?
yes all the same bolts in same as ae86
if you read the thread from the start the answers are all there
One of the QLD guys put S13 gear into the front of an MZ10 if that helps you. its in the members rides section, search for "devils camber".Originally Posted by thechuckster
