Default 3TGTE diff (MA61 surpra), air con

Hey all, i got a couple of quick questions.

First has to do with the Air Con hooked up to my 3tgte. I removed the gas bottle to run intercooler piping and now the whole air Con system isn't needed. Can i removed the belt that runs the Air Con (it is connected to two pulleys, i think both are air con related). Also, does having the air con hooked up to the pulley produce more resistance?

Second question is in regard to the diff. On the trans section of the build plates it says W55 F292. My understanding is that the W55 is the gearbox and the F292 refers to the diff where F= f series, 29= 4.1 ratio, 2= 2 pinions. Now i'm not sure, but if the build plate were to read F293 would that mean it is a LSD? I'm not sure but did MA61 supras come stock with an F293 diff? If they did can i simply replace my diff centre with one of these to have a LSD?

Sorry if it sounds a bit noobish, i'm still learning and with no friends that are into cars i don't get to ask questions or even just talk cars.

    Cheers,
    Dizzy

what car is it? I think most IRS F series diffs swap between eachother. Auto ma61s got that 4.1:1 diff ratio.. might be a good place to look. Or, you could get a trutrac to suit the F diff too

regarding the air con, you can remove the belt, by the sounds of it there is only the tensioner and the actually a/c pulley being driven from it. It wont make a measurable difference in resistance, the clutch wont be engaged and the compressor wont be turning for anything to happen... but if you aren't using it, much of a muchness.

    Is it IRS?

    yeah it is IRS.

I just read a thread about Truetrac, they sound good and reasonably priced to me, i might head down that road.

So u reckon there is no point removing the belt? i think i'll just remove the whole air con

no point in removing the belt unless you are removing the whole a/c system for weight reasons... or putting something in its place

yeah trutrac seems to be highly rated on here by many toymodders, norbie hasn't busted one (afaik?), so atleast it wont break on you any time soon

Cos he drives like he's trying to inflict pain on his car, just ask his gearboxes. His "being nice" to them involved just not flat-shifting...all of the time.

Yep, F292 is a 4.1 open centre (MX73 cressidas came with these). F293 is what came in auto MA61s, 4.1 LSD
