dude, it's a stock diff. it makes no difference at all.(gross generalisation)
just buy a good quality LSD oil like Penrite Limslip or something.
I've just installed a new diff (rebuilt 30,000km's ago) into my car but now i get what is known to be axel tramp. Urantia reckons its the oil that im using as he's had the same problem and tried a variety of oils with differing results. The oil that i have in the diff currently is Castrol LSX90, Urantia says that was the worst one he's tried. So what have you guys found? What's the best oil to run in your diff?

I high doubt the axle tramp is diff related. More likely to be spring/shock related.
I'm going to be running Penrites new SIN diff oil in my truetrac.
But at $50 for 2.5L, its not cheap.

Thanks for the feedback. Cruzida you may be right with the shock/spring combination because i changed my shocks to the ones out of the parts car to see what they were like at the same time as the diff swap. I can't quite wrap my head around how the shock/spring combo would affect it but i'll change back to my normal shocks 2moro morning and see if that works.
Old shocks cause axle tramp.
Sure there are more causes than that, but I'd say thats the cause 90% of the time.

Well i'll be. I'll have to pass this along to Urantia as he has old shocks in his MA70 aswell! Thanks again for your help
Nah Sam i never associated shit LSD oil with axle tramp, i thought you said you where getting chattering on corners ie taking corners at slow speed and the diff is chugging and making a hell racket as the clutches arn't slipping as easilty as they should (thats where i noticed different LSD oils made a varying difference, still haven't found a good one, will try penright/redline when i can afford it)
Oh yeah i have old rear's, but no probs with axle tramp, infact the rears are so soft i just squat down and get all the power the ground smoothly. I'll keep em for down the 1/4![]()
Too much squat means uber camber, which means no grip.Originally Posted by urantia

Then i must of been overreacting, they are great for dragging ppl off. But boaty around corners. (old stock TEMS)
Should u be using thick or light diff oil?
Only reason I ask is because Redline have recommended their shockproof gear oil which is really light compared to some diff oils I've seen. Not sure if thicker or lighter weight oil is better...
thats a good question, from the supra tsrm if i remember correclty they specify a 75w-90. And have tried 2 different 75w-90 diff oils, one bieng extremly nasty on my lsd, i was seriously worried it was going to destroy my clutches as it was that harsh, quickly stuck my old castrol ls90 crap in which was heavin in comparison, but still carries on when taking corners at a slow speed.
sorry for the hijack sam, back to you >
I've always used Penrite LimSlip, which is 85w-140.
I'm now trying Penrite SIN, which is 80w-140
