What, you mean like, have a conversation and be like friends?

    I don't do MSN.

also if there isnt dedicated threads, then say someone comes on with a st162 as there are alot of owners there will be Questions flooding the general car talk and it will make it difficult to navigate through it, at least by having the dedicated threads for the owners of the more popular and various toyotas that are more common then others there are places where all of the questions and talk for each model can be debated and questions posed and answered without cluttering up the general car talk or tech area.

I think moving the dedicated threads is a good idea. It would then make it easier for me to ignore them. May I suggest a move to deleted threads?

I am being somewhat smart-arsed there, however I feel many of the previously outlined point against them are valid. If people want to chat, use a chatroom, MSN, a phone, or even meet in person. If you have a question about a specific car model, SEARCH FOR IT, then if still unanswered ask in tech/general.

I haven't decided if I'm for them or against them yet, BUT...

If there is an argument for dedicated threads in the general section, would it then imply that there is an argument for dedicated tech threads as well? Obviously general being dribble and noise (although we don't actually want dribble and noise), with tech having useful stuff?

    Hi,

I tell you what, I'll start going through the "1st gen/classic celica" thread and see what useful tidbits of information is in there and I'll extract it and see what I find. Anything deemed useful and technical will be forwarded to the mods/admin to assist them in making a decision.

There is no reason why, if the thread is relegated to a general car-specific chat-room (ie that is without useful tech info) that it can't be put into a different sub-forum under general car discussion or whatever. Mind you, we need a sticky at the top of the car-specific chat-room style threads to put useful tech info into the relevant section.

It will need modding to keep the useful tech stuff out and wher eit belongs. I'm willing to do this if this idea floats and you'd like the assistance.

Give me some time 'cos that thread is bigger than Ben Hur!!!!

Your thoughts on this? I'd rather know sooner than later if I'm going to have to trawl through a few thousand posts.
