Chuck, what would you say is the maximum duty your injectors see (max rev and WOT)?? I can see me not needing 700s ever, and the better the control, the happier I will be.
Owen, if you go with larger injectors, run Hires code or MSII code and you'll have fine control over injector opening times.
fwiw: i'm using 4AGZE injectors (365cc/min), i am nowhere near max duty-cycle of the injectors and am running up to 11psi boost. However, i'd go with injectors that have standard bosch-style electrical connectors - chasing down denso injector plugs is a pain unless you want to buy new.

O man - you want "1G DSM" (1st gen) injectors from ebay motors (USA). Search ebay motors for "dsm injectors".
The blue top ones have the the correct spray pattern, and they are 440cc/min.
The black top, or 2G/2nd gen, versions have twin spray pattern, which is not suitable for the single intake valved 18RG.

...... butt scratcher?!
Now thats the sorta help I was after... thanks W man!! +rep bro

all this mega squirt and crap like this (sorry for being a n00b)
but yer as i said i want it for drifting i dont know how to set up a turbo for
drifting but i want it to be reliable.
ok so i went to the engine rebuilders today and 18rg pistons arnt avalible from anyone
he knows who did you guys get your pistons through and how much
second what turbo to use
third how hard is it to wire up the ecu wiring
and last piping how hard is it to do all teh piping and what mods do i need
to do oh yer its in a ra23 celica and im not after a crazy amount of power just something
to get the car sideways nicly
cheers i hope someone can help me
jake
Jake, you need a small turbo, about a CT20b or so such that it spools up quick and gives a lot of low down torque... this is the best for dorifto (high end isnt as good).
MegaSquirt is a brand of aftermarket ECU (engine control unit) which is a build it yourself open source (you can change the firmware code) which costs about US$250. Its quite a good unit, but does have some limitations making it unsuitable to some high end modern engines. For an 18R-GTE project it should be great (and is the one I will be using). Wiring it up depends on your abilities. I for one will have no problems... but it helps that im an engineer. All depends on whether your able to read circuit diagrams or not.
On a side note, I ordered my injectors today, for AU$220 posted, I get a set of fully reconditioned 450cc 1G DSM single spray injectors (with all new seals/orings/pintle caps/filters), new injector plugs, and a new resistor pack (low impedance injectors)... should turn up in about 2 weeks... sweet as!!

yer cheers for ya help um where do ya get the mega skirt thingy from
like is there any dealers in sa or is it a dodgey ebay item
and as far as my wireing capabiltys i am a small engine mechanic
i have learnt some wiring things but i dont trust myself with this
do you recomend anyone in adelaide to get to wire this up
cheers jake
megasquirt is a DIY setup - it will be as good as your skills at research & wiring & tuning.
Being much like an open-source project, there's as lot of sharing and forum discussion but not a huge amount of commercial use ('cause to make money out of it you have to offer good services, not just sell stuff).
Info about megasquirt here. I run the msextra version of this system.
hey just had a quick look at that web page and ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!! im not good with this stuff how much to pay one of you talented people to build one of these for me
p.s i sorta suck with electrical stuff and it takes me a long time to understand stuff
Another good ECU is the Adaptronic, available for about $1000 including a pre-fab loom (cut and shape to suit) its already put together and, with a $500 wide band oxygen sensor added, will tune itself!! (I will be using this on my 3S-GTE project)

IMO the best low-end ECU for a n00b is the Microtech. Everything you need can be had for a little over a grand, they're easy as piss to set up, and every bastard with a dyno knows how to tune them.
Stay well away from the "mega skirt" (lol) unless you're a hardcore electronics nerd and enjoy spending shitloads of time getting it working well.

Yeah, I would agree with that... They are a great low cost item, but can be fucked up too easily. The adaptronic you dont need a dynoOriginally Posted by Norbie
(mind you, you dont need a dyno for any ECU if you know how to tune)

hey where can i get one of these 1000 dollar ecu systems is there any dealers in adelaide for them

Theres no dealer in SA for adaptronic yet, but you can purchase through anyone and install it yourself. That link gives prices and locations of retailers.
