Cool, good to know it's not going to be putting valves into pistons so easily. I honestly just had know idea how high i should be taking it. It should pick up a bit once I bin the 88270 cams for some 88210's, but I think some aftermarket ones would be helping you get all the way up to 8k

Performance requires being very stubborn and reach for perfection, and to never settle for almost right. Good Luck with this, because I know you will get it right.

aka: Solex carbs have a metering block at the bottom of the carburetor that will fill with crud. This will restrict you fuel flow and rob your performance.. Just a thought...
18RGEU's the EFI variant matey. I'm not a carburettors kinda guy. Keep in mind the 88270's have the lowest compression and most tame cam profiles of all the 18R-G variants, so this might just be what the performance is like. It's mega torquey though. It kinda drives like a 22RE that actually wants to rev past 4k rpm.

I bought the engine as a 'recent rebuild', ~4,000km on the clock. I pulled it down and it has definitely been rebuilt. It doesn't feel like there's a mechanical problem, it's just more tame than most 18RG variants.

I take my 18RGEU (Stock as a rock) to 7k all the time. It loves it!

Doesn't make much power up there, but it sounds cool LOL

Hur hur, this is kind of what I was hoping to hear as my 18RGEU is totally stock except for a unfilter, extractors / 2" stainless exhaust and a light flywheel. Cam time!

Also, with your slipping belt problem.

Make sure you're using the right width belt.

The later ones used a 13A belt rather than the 11A! (Yes, I went through a few 11A belts before realising lol)

Yeah i've definitely got a 13A on there but after getting the swingarm powdercoated the alternator doesn't slide so well, so i've just got to take the swingarm off and sand it a little so it doesn't create massive resistance when attempting to tension the belt.

    Ahhh.

I use a small length of broomstick to help tension the alt. (obviously don't go overboard with it)

    Hi Guys,

18RGEU running 195500-0285 Blue top injectors... they look to be quite rough, and one of the clips is cracked/broken.. so i am trying to find a set of new replacements rather than have the old ones reco'd and superglue the plastic bakc together *sigh*..

i can buy brand new 22RE ones - 23250-45011, many suppliers in the USA and China etc etc..

i am having trouble however finding info on size and impedance, the old style denso plug is the same, and install o-rings etc is fine.

they would be slightly bigger? it's running a very old Haltech so it can be tuned regardless if they are drastically bigger, but i was hoping to be able to drive the thing for a bit first, so i'm hoping they are of similar size, and the same impedance.

I know the std injectors are the 210 cc's, you can go for the 4agez type which will suit.
i have a set of 240cc that suit 18rgeu's and 360cc, i can get the denso number for you.
otherwise try finding the early RX7 injectoers, their 460 cc brown top feed, low imp, i have a set also that i can get the numbers for you. these are quiet easy to find.
i think from memory in the USA they have mitsubishi eclipes injectors which come up often on ebay.

this i think is one of the better injector info sight i've seen.
    http://injector-rehab.com/shop/
go to top right click Knowledge base.
click onto injector pic & flow rates, scroll down to nippon.....top feed.
then see the nippon numbers and flow rates, u can click on these and see an actual pic.

not to mention the rest of the sights info on duty cycles and more.
    btw its for all injectors

    hope that helps.

22R-E ones SHOULD be low impedance as they run a resistor block for the injectors, which has the same resistance as a 18RGEU injector resistor block. In fact I am using one on my 18RGEU setup.

I know this is true for 22RE RT142 Corona.

    Pace maker extractors

There will be a few things I need to get for it.

Throw out lever, slave cylinder and shifter for the box.

Has a Falcon alternator, is there a bracket assembly for that I do I need to fabricate one?

Also a kit to convert the points distributor to electric. I'm lead to believe the instructions are on here somewhere?

I've been looking at camtech site for a re-grind, I'm after a profile that would suit it, since the Stout is a truck, it will have to behave like one. (Torque Low/Mid range power). Any suggested cam profiles?

anyone had experiance with over reving these engines?

i took my ra23 celica to drift prac last night and was giving it shit the whole night. dont have a working tach but i was 8000 plus in second gear in the s's
its a rebuild blanaced motor with 22r pistons and a ported and flowed head done 5000km since rebuild if that.

last session i noticed it had a drop in power so i backed off. heard a big end knock. came in and noticed the oil was slightly below full. had it fillled to over full before
ad now i noticed an oil leak to... :/
gonna pull the motor apart in the next few weeks when i have time..

They loose oil pressure in corners due to oil sloshing away from the pump. Be very careful.
Looking for a new toy. If you have something 18r powered let me know.

RIP, where ever you are :- 1974 celica, 3tgte and 186.5hp at 6500rpm

Build yourself a better oil pan with internal baffles. Additional capacity will help. Good Luck

i have a front sumped motor as i have rack and pinion..

the motor sounds a lil rattlly at around 3000. do you think i could just clean up the crank and wack a set of bearings back in it and itll be fine? or do these cranks crack and mark easy... ??

also anyone got and pics of their baffled sumps? and what would be considered over reving for these motors?? it seamed to love to rev the whole night! i have double valve springs and didnt hit valve float once! was really impressed

another alternative is use an accusump its a cylinder that contains pressurised oil and when there is a drop in oil pressure it forces oil through the system
i bought one on ebay last year for under $100 from the states i will post up a piccy tomorrow
    or try this link
