    Hi Thanks,

pretty good to hear other people's experiences.

I've actually been thinking about the exhaust system lately..

How to get the best flow but minimum noise.

Not a huge fan of cannon mufflers at all...

Big oval center mufflers and a 3" triple flow chambered rear

    ^^^ As above.

I had a centre resonator put in my system (I asked for a muffler) and it buzzed and droned like a honda on vtec yo.
I took it back and got them to stick a straight through muffler in it's place and the drone and buzz left to go haunt a civic somewhere and left the nice note of a GZE behind. I still get a tiny bit of a buzz on a cold engine and exhaust, but it's gone by the time I turn out at the end of my street.

The trick is to fit the biggest straight through mufflers as you can, and as many as you can. Offset mufflers are good too, as the pipe is a bit longer due to being diagonal in the muffler (I have two offset mufflers in the rear of the Levin for the twin outlets).

Plumb back, but the outlet is only about 15cm from the air filter so it's pretty much atmospheric. The pipe itself is only about 30cm long between the air filter and the SC so there wasn't much option to plumb it back further down.

It's in the car so hard to take a photo, but it is basically two mufflers at the rear (twin outlets like a standard AE101 Levin) and the inlet and outlet of each muffler is not in line. That way the gas has to kink a little so the pressure wave hits the mesh and is absorbed by the packing material in the muffler a bit rather than travelling straight through.

I'll see how it goes with the new 20v engine, and if it's too loud (it was ok with the GZE, but they are meant to have a bit of a bark), I'll be getting the single center muffler (straight through) swapped for two centre/offset mufflers so with the two offset ends together, they will form a 'chicane' of sorts.
Four mufflers should keep the thing damn near silent, but being 2.5" straight through, they should still provide good flow.

Yep I get what you mean by chicane.. so it makes a dog leg through the exhaust and would off-set the the resonant waves.
Wasn't sure if you meant 2 exhausts in-line 1 before and 1 after the axle or a split set up.

I like the idea of twin exhausts..
Might be a lot of work for my wagon though..

Yeah, pretty much like that pic.

The two mufflers forming the chicane will be up the front between the start of the little muffler and the bend before the split.
