............................
Basically what ive done is put what i know for starters, onto a table that shows; vehicle model, its diff, ratios, stud pattern, width, brake specs and a column for other comments.
its only a draft at the moment so things maybe wrong or some models missing. what the plan involves is, ill post a link for this file (in both word and pdf format) and people can view it and either; edit and email back to me(make changes in different colour) or PM/post the details that require changing. the info that goes on it will need to as accurate as possible, ie. not "i heard from a mate's mate".
the idea is to have 1 table that can be refered back to later to find anything toyota diff related.
WORD FORMAT
PDF FORMAT
There are a lot of blanks at the moment, especially in the old corolla region and the old crown region.

hello
great idea, but i'd suggest putting it in excel format instead of word.
also, you will need a JDM and poverty spec (ADM) for AE86 at least, and the aussie one has an S series diff.
The ADM ae86 has an S series diff.
The JDM version has a T series usually coming with a 4.3 diff ratio. Some rare ones had a 4.1 centre. There are also large and skinny versions of the axles. The thin ones are 23.5mm and are the same as T18/ra40 axle diametres. The larger ones are 1mm (or 1.5?) thicker and come in "Kouki" ae86 versions (85-87)
The ae71/ke70 have Borg Warner diffs.
Eddie.
EDIT: ae86 ADM have drum brakes while JDM have solid disks.

4agte finally completed. 234rwkw @ 8125rpm. Tis fun
changes are now made regarding the last 2 posts![]()
hello
Nice effort, excellent idea and it looks like it starting to come along nicely
Quick question, are rear ends with borg warners hard to find and fit an LSD, without having to do a drum-drum/disc-disc conversion?
cheers

Hi,
Looks good, but isn't your "ratios" column incorrectly labelled. This looks to be part of the diff code and not the ratio. For example, the RA25 GT diff code is "5F2-F313", which (IIRC) makes it a 7.5inch 2-pinion LSD with a ratio of 3.909. Also, the RA25 GT has drum brakes on the rear.

MA45 - T series. MA46/7 - F series
MX10, MX12 were E series. MX22 auto is E312.
MS65 had Borg Warner diffs. AMI built MS55s had Borg Warners too.
Pretty sure most/all those early Corollas (KE1x, KE2x) have U series diffs in them. After that they had Borg Warners or U series depending on whether they were made in Japan or AMI.
RT81 had a Borg Warner or S series diff depending on whether they were made here or in Japan.

89 Tarago with the F282 is a YR22.

Big T: i think youll find that 99% of the T-series AE86 diffs out there are 4.3:1.
AE86 T-series ran discs too
AE95 4WD Corollas had T-series rears as well, unsure of the ratio.
big t/takai - i think you'll find they are ALL 4.3:1
every AE86 from japan had a t-series 4.3 rear end from factory
i have all of the original brochures and specs at home ive collected over the years
some models had drums on a T but most disc
but all are t series 4.3's, they mate to the T50 ratios best for accel and for top speed highway driving.
the AE85 on the other hand... wahhh bad luck if you cop one of thesei dont know the specs of the top of my head but drums were the norm and i THINK it was an S series like our aussie stock.
the whole 4.1:1 is a celica thing IIRC
and the 3.7/3.9:1 is the t-18/ta22? (im probably off on this though)
the AE95 are the same splined axels as the kouki (ie tough as guts) AE86 but the spline length makes them unusable![]()

also as for the AUDM AE86 they were a drum S-Series diff with a 3.9:1 ratio
there was also talk to fitting an LSD to them from another S series car toyota made.
never confirmed though so at this point its 'rumor'
who wants to mythbust this one?![]()
