T50 3t & 2t gearbox questions

I have got a 2t T50 that needs a rebuild and have just bought a 3t from a 4AC ae86

The prob I have is that the shifter locations are different. The latter model box has the shifter set back further than the 2t, and the shifters are different. This also causes an issue with the drive shaft and yoke, but I can easly get that shortened properly

Can I put the extension housing from my 2t on the back of my 3t to get the shifter in the same spot ?

You unluckily need to split main case and change selector rails over as well as rear housing. I am going to fit close ratio TRD gearset in a AE86 box but fit into TA22 so I need to do the same thing. The 3t box, out of memory, should be same length from front of gearbox main case to rear end of output shaft. AE86 and TA22 I just checked are same length. Should not need to alter drive shaft, check output shaft splines, TA22 has 20 splines AE86 has 22 splines. So may need driveshaft front yoke to suit.

Ahhh...so overall box lenght is the same. That means I wont need to change the tail shaft

I already knew that I would need a different yoke, so thats not a prob, just have to source a yoke.

Are the yokes common across the whole toyota gearbox range or I do I need a specific T50 22/20 spline yoke

As long as I can swap internals over,extension housing etc, then it wont be to much of a drama, just means shifter is in a different spot for what will be a spare box.

I basically bought a second box due to the fact that the bearing kits for the 2t are getting hard to find, and expensive, and my original box is making all the wrong noises..

If you can find a AE86 driveshaft the front yoke should swap over, recommend fitting new uni joints if you need to change yoke. Dellows sell both 20 and 22 spline yokes, but are $160.00 plus post on ebay, just search T50 on ebay.
Forgot to mention TA22 box also fits, with correct bellhousing, a KE20/ early KE30.
