    Default RZ Hiace gearbox questions

Hi all, Just scored a hiace manual box and other manual bits to convert an auto to a manual.

A few questions first, the input shaft has quite abit of play is this normal? a few mm play when moved from side to side.

Also my other main quesion was what the bolt torque settings are for the flywheel nuts to the crank, and also the pressure plate nuts to flywheel. I have found it near impossible to get RZ Hiace service manuals anywhere, gregories and haynes dont even make them!

Im sure you 2rz hilux guys can probably help me out here.

Also the clutch line was cut dammit! and the resivour that holds the fluid doesnt appear to be there, there is something else which i am not sure the configuration i'll get some pics and post them up when i can hoping someone can set me straight.

    Cheers guys

Play in input shaft is normal
The end of the shaft will be supported by a spigot bearing which you should fit to the rear of the crank

I can get the torque setting tomorrow if you still need them

Also the clutch master cylinder is fed fluid by a hose joined to the brake master cylinder so the brake fluid and clutch fluid are in the same part

mate the book says 88nm for the flywheel bolts and 19nm for the pressure plate bolts but that seems a little low to me for the pressure plate

the celica 3sge pressure plate were 14nm from memory so i guess that 19nm for the hiace must be right

Thanx a million for that 2jzhilux! i got another couple questions i wonder if you could answer for me

is there a different brake fluid resivour for the manual hiace to allow the clutch to tap into for fluid? as the one in the auto hiace doesnt appear to have anything.

I also cant find anywhere the clutch pedal bolts too i guess there must be a different braket/frame for manual hiaces that the pedals bolts into? thats about all i can see thats holding stopping me getting the conversion done.

The manual resevoir is a single plastic container with the one filler cap. Inside the container are three partitions - clutch, front brake, back brake. There are three outlets and I think the clutch is slightly smaller diameter. Also, when you fit the pedal, replace the plastic top hat shaped bush at the end of the pedal that the clutch push rod clevis pin fits through. They not so easy to replace in the car unless you have three arms. When they wear the pedal squeaks every time you push it. The genuine part price is about $3.

Hey Thanx for the reply petergoudie.

Yeah ended up getting the correct resivour, but by geez installing the manual pedal box setup is a hell of a job. Everything is done except i cant find a place to plumb the reverse gearbox switch into the auto wiring. (for my reverse lights to work) i'll just have to splice into the reverse light wire when i can find it.
