For your powersteering theres a thread for a r&p conversion using an ae71 crossmember and ae86 powersteering rack fairl6 easy to do I did it in about 3 hours on an empty shell
If it disappoints you the way they have gone up in value wait till you have modded it & maybe made it worthless depending on how good a job you do or at least with out doubt de-value it drastically & then see what a clean stock one is worth in years to come & you will CRY ... Hence why people said play with a stockie celica & leave this one alone ..

Getting off the path of the motor the st 205 diff will fit with some modding of axles I've posted a thread on this i did on my car
money not an issue I wouldn't care what it be worth, I just want to do it different and when I put the kit on my car it will be worth allot because the kit I have got no one has got it, the stock celica in my opinion Is a unfinished car i.e front spoiler side skirts boot spoiler and the indicators sticking out the wing when I do mine I will post picks and you will se that my car will be like what cosworth or amg do to a standard car and upgrade it, no ill never cry I just want to build a master piece.
thanks allot pagie ill get on to that so I need a ae71 cross member and ae86 power rack thanks allot do you know where I could get hold of these parts??? guys has anyone got a rear window louver??? if anyone knows what to do to link the 2jz to gtr running gear can you please tell me thanks
Can we get some pics of the GT before you butcher it up?
So are you gonna be doing the conversion yourself or getting a workshop to do this?
What is your budget for the conversion?
My 2c.
Get a second TA23, but an LT. Then chop that for the body mods. For your GT, sell it to somebody who appreciates the fact its a rare GT (worth more than a 1 of a kind steel body kit, by a lot!)
As for the AWD, I would suggest you have a look at a Subie before you go committing to such a thing. You will find that the engines are really wide, and would be a tough ask to put one in the engine bay. Also, the front axles come out from the front of the gearbox, which at best case will be at the back of the engine bay, which is way too far back for the Celica. I would say that the GTR or similar setup would be your only option (if there is an AWD Mk2, or Chaser, then that's going to be the easy option, and with the lack of weight in the Celica, will be plenty strong, you will lose traction early)
And finally for your rear louvre. Judging by the location you have put down, and the currency you are talking in, I am guessing you're in Britain. If so, you will be hard pressed getting one from Australia, you might want to check Ebay etc for something a little more local.
One more thing. Could you please use a bit of punctuation. Capitals at the start of sentences makes your text far more readable, and will encourage others to provide helpful responses.
Good luck with your endeavours, however I will repeat again that a genuine GT is better served staying as a genuine GT, there were not enough of them made to be hacked apart for a body kit which would look just as good on an LT.
Cheers, Owen

Doing the things that aren't popular... cause being popular and being good are often distinctly different.
As someone who has looked into a 2jz/1uz awd setup I can give the following advice:
IN THEORY the r34 GTR gearbox would bolt to a 2jz if the bellhousing etc were taken from a supra model v160/161 and attached the the GTR v160/161
HOWEVER the GTR gearbox will NOT work without a custom sump as the gtr transfer case hangs out the the right hand side. AWD versions of the 2jz/1jz/1uz all have the diff on the left hand side of the sump.
2jz can be made awd using the gearbox, transfer case and sump from JDM model Altezza gita (is200 wagon/hatch). This will be an automatic setup and I would be uncertain as to whether the a340 even a built one could handle any more than a standard 2jzgte.
This leaves the following options:
R151/R154f 5 speed manual box from hilux using 1jz/2jz bellhousing. Part time 4wd only, not really suitable.
Modified GTR gearbox with left side transfer case. VERY expensive.
Custom sump with diff on the right side of the engine. not particularly PRACTICAL as gtr diff has different ratios 3.55:1 in R34, maybe different in 33/32. would necessitate a GTR rear diff swap/custom gears to make it work.
RS gear modified T56 with transfer case and 1jz/2jz to T56 adapter plate. Awesome but outrageously expensive/would probably require tunnel work to fit.
R161f transmission from FJ cruiser. 6 speed R series transmission with torsen centre differential/transfer case, merely speculation would require custom engine to transmission adapter plate.
Possible YES. Practical NO WAY
If you have to ask the question don't even bother wasting peoples time
P.s dont hate, just facts (slightly intox)
I would suggest wreckers, not sure what the UK ones are like or what they would stock... again this is going to add HUGE expesnes to your build if you need to ship these parts from overseas.
I had a 1GGTE 2.0L twin turbo RA23 celica and now building a 1JZ 2.5L single turbo RA28, This alone is not just a bolt in, like 1 weekend sort of job. They are very tight fitting and take AGES of fabrication, upgrades and problem solving.
I would truly try to find someone local who just has a turbo powered TA23/RA28/23 and go for a drive with them. I Guarantee you that you wont stop smiling and will be shocked at how fast they move... This sort of swap is actually achievable on an ok budget. Crazy stupid fast and you wont spend a bajillion pounds, and the next 30 years of your life trying to maybe get what you have in mind done.
Dont let me take you away from your dream, its good to dream. But maybe see what you think of a turbo 1st gen and go from there...
plus a 2JZ sits about 2 inches higher than a 1JZ, power to weigh laws and... I dont even know why I am going to this length.
Long story short... this is one very very very very very...............very very very tall mountain to climb,
I agree with everyone, dont hack the GT, but i am a firm believer in each to their own, cant stop you but it would be my suggestion.....
1jz is heaps in the celicas mate. Ive just finished building mine. Its an animal. Used to be Celica77s car. 1g was fast. 1jz is insane. Had to replace everything to go with it. Sipport mods are a must. Even the hilux pug brake combo didnt work very well

Please don't ruin your GT, if it's legit.
Get an LT and chop that up. Do whatever you want to that, it doesn't really matter so much. Plenty of unfinished projects.
It's not about the money, it's about having respect for the culture, heritage and worth of the car. Just don't ruin a genuine GT.
hi guys just to update you all I have been told I have to lift the celica shell and weld it to a skyline r33. cutting all the celica floor out and welding the skyline floor so that I can get a four wheel drive with the 2jz , my plans were to put a 2jz with a custom gearbox but I have been told the original celica would not handle well unless I welded the shell to a skyline I should be putting up some pictures I don't how to upload them can anyone help?? also does anyone know where I maybe able to buy a louver for my ta23??
